I could cry
The fridge freezer is broken and it was packed to the gills. OH noticed yesterday but didn't think to mention  food is warm so no idea how long it has been out for as we have eaten away from home the last two days. What a waste of money
:(:( now I need to pay for a new one and to restock it
:(:(
Oooh dear....I knew there are "poo fairies" around (as in people who clear up other peoples dog mess, including retrieving bags of it tied to trees and bushes.....according to that type of dog owner anyway....!!), but I wasn't aware there are "household fairies" around who notify just one person in a house when Summat Is Up and I would have "had words" with hubbie asking him where that household fairy resided that was going to tell me in those circumstances (since he hadn't).0 -
Rummer - have you tried freecycle for a replacement FF? We got one that kept us going for months after Mr BD broke the FF by leaving the freezer door open all night. I then bought a new FF when I spotted what I wanted when it was reduced (and re-freecyled the old one)
Been a lovely day here. Been rather tired so haven't done much but have sat in the garden and watched the chickens for a while.
Very smart stall Dave photo's of the flowers very helpful for customers who get confused trying to remember all the names.
Next week we are moving our 6x8 shed to the other corner of the garden. Well by 'we' I mean Mr BD and his mates.Hopefully it will move OK so we don't have to get a new one or make do without.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

If anyone is close to an Ikea, they have plant sale until 6th Apr. I picked up 21cm box balls for £8.50 each. A path lined on each side would look impressive.
Good sized Areca palms are £9.50.
As always, need to have a sort through the rack to pick the best ones.0 -

It was the flowers that got me to go digital 'properly.'
I received a camera as a leaving present at work. The boss said, patronisingly, "Don't worry, Dave, it's all automatic!"
He read my face wrongly. That was what worried me, having been used to a manual SLR!
I took the camera back, added £100 and got myself one that took great macro shots. Then I bought software that would put the names into the pictures.
My other present just happened to be a laminator.....:rotfl:0 -

I spoke to Alfie the same day my phone came back on, she was the first person to call.and we only stopped chatting because a client called on my mobile. She hadn't got the message I was losing my line and was not impressed she hadn't been able to get hold of me
I don't know what messages you have got but not been clear sailing, the move.. Never the less, she is properly in now, and the dogs are happy, she's nearer the ponies. When she is back on line she's got half an hour or so extra in the day for listing things when she'd normally be getting the genny cranked up and the fires lit.
Like me when we came here, she's had to get used to some noises, some changes. But it happens. Change is good for us. Even if like me we don't like it
. Alfie is less stuck in the mud than me
I am so fond of her its untrue.0 -

Speaking of box, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank tesco for boosting the business of my local green grocer.. Last year when I felt grim I started getting lazy and veg buying at tesco more often. Then they brought in their box plants. I cannot buy veg where it smells of piddle, so my green grocer is doing well again..
Have to admit some of the newer varieties that rhiwfield would be cross with me over are delicious0 -
DW visited a cheapo nursery yesterday and bought two blackberry plants in 2l pots for.....under £8!
They are both new varieties and well reviewed. I'm going to try them along the sheep fence in our new copse, having given a bit of extra sheep protection with Tensar netting, or they'll [STRIKE]probably[/STRIKE] definitely eat them!
Not much news here. I got the second row of hornbeams completed, so that's nearly all the hedging planted at last.
The council have just upset me by changing both rubbish and recycling to a different day. Now, instead of separate days it'll all be on Tuesdays, except when it's on Wednesday or Thursday.......
Given that it's taken four years to train my barn-dwelling neighbours to cope with the present system, I'm not hopeful. We'll now have15 households' rubbish and recycling out front in one place. How the hell we escape attention from badgers and foxes is a mystery, but the crows make up for that if anything's there too long.
I am going to programme council's waste dept into the phone and hammer them constantly if there is any repetition of the problems we had in the past. I shall be known as 'Mr Grumpy' before April's out, betcha!0 -
I do hope Alfie is back soon!
Dave, how frustrating!
Rum let has spent the last hour intensely dancing and is now partied out :rotfl: The weather is rubbish today so I think we might just have a couch day and further plan the garden. We were going to buy the wood for the new beds this month however a new grudge freezer has accounted for that money insteadTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
What do folks reckon to this idea?
I have cannas in a large (50cm) terracotta pot and need the space back in the conservatory! If I place the pot against a south-facing outside wall and cover the emerging shoots with two layers of fleece, I was hoping that would be enough protection at this time of year, even in Glasgow.0
