Have seen some images.
( missing Alfie so much I could weep)

Love this, couldn't afford the gates made, could make rest or have made ok. Gates would be dear I think. Like it so much.
Generally I'm not a huge fan if trellises LIR, but I do like that - it looks very American to me......and I've a soft spot for American houses
Regarding the issue of footpaths - you'd have no probs with me, CTC, as I positively hate walking through other people's property, even as a means to an end. I'm so shy and worried that I'd be chased off by a farmer wielding a shotgun I'd rather not risk it, lol
DS loves to go off-roading in his Landy and on occasion I've accompanied him. I have no worries about driving through bye ways that are clearly marked as such, but occasionally where areas are not so clearly signposted I'd prefer not to venture there just in case - he however doesn't share my scruples.......but luckily DH prefers not to off-road our Landy
As for cyclists, we cannot abide them unless they keep to the roads (and then why do they insist on riding several abreast?) or areas set aside for their specific use - especially in the New Forest where it now seems impossible to take a quiet ramble without being mown down by hoards of ridiculously Lycra-clad men and annoying brats :mad:Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Our area is EXTREMELY popular with cyclists.
When we first moved here I found it a bit ....distasteful tbh, because there conversations are so loud and one can hear them for MILES coming and going and they always seem to be so graphic, misogynist or just ugly ( I'm no blushing idiot over words and swear too but not every second word).
I'm sort of used to them now, and I think they bring some vitality to the area. I wouldn't go so far as to say I'd miss them, but I AM glad that the area gets used for things like that.
( otoh dog dog chases bikes so it can get a bit stressful checking there are none about if they are unusually quiet)0 -
A metre down. A brick floor, not tremendously old looking bricks, so not roman but so deep!
Another well? Some sort of cellar? We'll never know, but I wish we did. DH read arch and I know he'd like to get students from his old college in to dig at some point (not there, that's going to have a path laid and my herb beds) but I'd love to know what was there before the plans maps we've seen from 1720s.0 -
 I am still here! Not been managing to keep up with things as much as I had hoped
Dave Glad you are feeling better
LIR Looks very interesting, I like the thought of you having a mini Time Team style dig on your property!
CTC Delighted to hear you are getting checked at the docs, I have been concerned about you for a while
To everyone else hello and I hope you are well!
The weather here today is glorious and I am quietly scheming a way to sooth my baby to sleep so that I can go out and work in the garden
Things here have fallen into a quiet routine of baby care and housework so to shake things up a bit we have purchased a ........TENT :rotfl: If you had met me IRL you would appreciate how amusing the thought of me going camping actually isIn fact my dad highlighted that it may be more like Carry on Camping than the Glamping experience I am planning :rotfl:
So as well as planning the garden I have been studiously researching camping accessories and campsitesI do so love lists and spreadsheets :rotfl:
Alfie, Rozee, Rhiwfield, Itisme I hope you are all wellTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Ok, my first ebay think is going to be the boiler as spares and repair.
Is that a good first thing to sell?
How long should I list it for?
All advice welcome! I am VERY nervous of selling on ebay!0 -
LIR...I would say yes, as it will be for collection only...
If you are nervous with listing your first item, could you hang on until Alfie visits again, so she can help you list the item???
If you want to list it yourself, then You could pm me the link to look at it if you want... or I am sure Rhiwie would too..
I soooo miss Alfie too, but she did phone me today regarding something her friend is looking for/needs and we ended up talking for ages... regarding our situation work/ life etc... we have some mega life changing decisions to make... and when you explain it to Alfie... it sounds sooooo simple lol..
As with you LIR... I so wish Alfie lived closer, and you too, as I am sure we would get on great...well in fact most of you on here...lol...Work to live= not live to work0 -

If I were you I'd make sure that you specify collection only. Trying to post a boiler is going to be a complete nightmare
I don't know about the rest... As long as you give people a decent amount of time to notice it (say, a week) I don't think it matters that much. Maybe look at other listings of similar things and see how they do it?“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

LIR..
list it for 10 days.... but do the listing around 9pm on a Thursday evening.... so that means it will finish at 9pm on a sunday evening..
and make sure you say cash on collection, no postage/delivery due to size/weight etc...also say you would like it picked up within x amount of days of the auction endingWork to live= not live to work0 -
Well I managed to spend 45 mins in the garden today while teeny slept and was watched by OH
I picked up all of the rubbish that had blown in again and then I weeded the herb garden. It was lovely to get out into the fresh air and the garden is looking much better already.
LIR Gumtree and Facebook groups are alternative ways of selling if you are reluctant to use ebay, may be worth trying there first.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Ah, good to hear you're OK too, Rummer.
I had a rough night when the pain moved to 'other regions'
So, I spent all morning in bed and woke up around 1pm feeling much better.:j Then I did an alfie by having the humungous bonfire I'd been planning. :rotfl:An entire winter's cutting back and clearing gone in a matter of three hours or so.:D Now I'm cream-crackered, but relieved, because the wind hasn't blown from that direction for months.
Interesting brick floor that deep, lir. Not far down enough for water storage maybe, but could be a cellar floor under a building with the ground floor slightly raised, like many mills and grain stores.
Funnily enough, I'm planning to do my first ebay sale soon for the Dutch lights rescued from my old greenhouse. I thought a BiN of £2 each or make me an offer for the lot. (28)0
