when my pet fox was a cub he lived indoors. he used to knock the phone off to hear the voice say "please replace the handset". one day i came in and went to use the phone, thinking he had knocked off handset i followed curly lead to find it gone ! he had chewed the lead and taken it into his den under my sons bed....... he would NOT let me have it back and held on fast...:rotfl:

he used to raid the clothes pile whilst i was in the bath and run off with allsorts...;)
i used to get my son ,when home from school, to distract him so i could retrieve a treasure trove from his den...:rotfl::rotfl:

he was very special and had him 15 years.:A

JC... sometimes you have got to throw caution to the wind and say S@D IT, and take a risk... Just before we bougth the ranch, things just fell into place money making, earning, borrowing wise... ok things arnt so lucky now..lol... BUT.. sometimes its now or never....

It sounds as though this could potentially be a good spot for you, as then you don't have to move..

I would be number crunching all day, and eyeing up absolutely EVERYTHING that wasn't nailed down and could be flogged off, even if it was for less than it was worth just to get the pennies into the daydream account...

I know this sounds an odd way of looking at it, BUT could you just ' manage' you debt with min payments etc.. and save like made to buy the woods, as once you have bought it, its yours, and then you could go back to throwing every penny off your debt... as once you have bought it, that's it.. it is yours..

Its not like if you are buying a house with land, where you have got to pay rates, utilities etc...

    Just an option....

CTC I couldn't save that amount in the time I'm hoping to pay off the debt. I am planning to use the profit from selling my house to buy the woods and if it were in a fit state at the minute I'd consider putting it on the market now, but there's other stuff to be sorted, apart from some (mostly cosmetic) upgrades to the house, such as it still being in joint names with my ex!

We already agreed that I can have the house as he didn't pay any maintenance for DS for a while and now pays about half of what he should really, so it works out that I've technically bought him out. We not even divorced yet (separated for 4 years!), so it's just not got sorted. I must definitely get this done, note to self - speak to the bank about how to do this!

My reasoning for wanting to be debt free is that I really don't want to be at risk of losing it should I start struggling with debt repayments ( been there with a house before:().

Maybe things will fall into place sooner, if so that will be fab.

Maybe I'll just contact the owner, check it's still available....:p

Two things you can do about that:

    1. Use Firefox and get the free add-on No Script. That prevents any malicious scripts from being automatically downloaded from infected web pages. Remember, the nasty stuff is usually hidden in well-visited pages of quite innocent things - the last one I had was lurking in Autotrader.

    2. Do all your browsing inside a sandbox, such as that offered free by Sandboxie. Then, if something does get through, it's stuck in the sandbox (which is just a small partitioned-off chunk of your hard drive) and you can empty the whole thing, including the malicious script, at the end of a session.

    Not 100% foolproof, but 99.9% :D

Dave I'm not sure I completely understandwhat you said but thanks for this I'm plagued with flippin ad popups n stuff and I'm pretty sure I'm infected (well the computer, you understand:o), so will look into this.

Today I got some more free firewood from the nice builders who were building a deck and had loads of offcuts, that'll save a bit. I've got a fair bit of wood in and I'm thinking I may be able to get away without getting another load next month:T Have to get DS on the job, sawing it up for me - he prefers splitting, he gets to use the axe:rotfl:

  • morning all,

what can I say ?? but its raining!!!!

REALLY do need something to cheer me up...

    weather is pants

    ranch is coming along slow,

Work is VERY touch and go..

my boys are being, well teenage/young adult so the usual attitude and back chat..

    feeling like poop,

but apart from all that, everything is fine lol...

JC.... I don't want to get your hopes up or anything, BUT a piece of land we looked at via an estate agents... suggested to offer the sellers staggered payments over x time.. as the seller would consider it..
What the estate agent said was to put a proposal in place.. pay x amount, then x amount of payments that had to be made by a certain date... for example pay x amount then 6 months or a year later pay x amount but they had to be paid on or before a said date... something had to be factored in for late or non-payment.

Its just a thought, and the worst they can say is no...

right back off to swagbucking, so far, ( touch wood) been doing good...

    Morning CTC.

Yep, grey day here too. Weather keeps saying its freezing, but its not. Its really not bad at all temperature wise still, just bloody dank, wet and grey.

A few weeks ago I took a photo that I'm quite proud of. It really shows this weather. It was taken middle of the day , probably late morning, and in colour, though no colour in it at all.....photo buckets let me back in so I'll go and find it....

Doesn't that just sum up some of this winter? Devoid of colour?

    Not like this one :)

We have blue skies and a bit of sunshine here! :D

Jayne, if you have lots of pop-ups and think there's an infection, you need Malwarebytes as well:

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/

The free version is fine. They have very good support if you need it. Indeed when I had trouble, it was their guy who helped me sort it out. Mc Afee, who I'd paid to protect me, wanted £60.

I never pay for any software nowadays, and certainly avoid big corporation stuff whenever possible. :)

Both pictures are lovely in their own way, lir.:A

FWIW, I haven't found this winter too bad. Every year now the garden moves forward a little, although the house gets worse for lack of maintenance, but there's no point in painting soffits etc that are coming off soon. :o
