talking funerals....
my grandad was a farmer. he had little if not NONE, time for religion...
at his funeral the vicar forgot to turn up !! we were all sat there waiting... i had a fit of the giggles as i was convinced my grandad had had a hand in it:rotfl:
they had to get a temp vicar from "up the road" who knew nothing about GD and fumbled his way through the ceromony...
i still have a giggle now :rotfl:0 -
ive got a long tedious day today and will be a grumpy moo by the end ...

Rhiwie... In your honest opinion.. being a good person with money, economy etc.. do you think ebay will change for the worse in the future for sellers..??
CTC, Ebay is already putting greater emphasis on buy it now listings and favouring best match searches to high volume items with excellent service levels (free postage, same day dispatch, get it fast). My gut feel is that Ebay will continue to provide a platform for the smaller seller, but will toughen up its performance requirements even more and weed out sellers who dont comply. So any seller faces the risk of a few disgruntled buyers trashing feedback even if it wasnt the sellers fault (say if RM lost a mailsack with day's goods in). And that might be enough to get a seller suspended.
If I were looking to increase our online business in I'd still include Ebay in the mix but also go for Etsy, possibly facebook, and my own website, with the intention that own site sales are promoted through adwords and repeat business. We have pensions kicking in so we aren't reliant on Ebay as a sole source of income, something which I would feel very nervous about if Ebay was our only sales platform.
The other issue with selling preowned/preloved goods is that Ebay listings are unique for each item and each listing takes time, so limiting the amount of stuff you can have for sale. That is totally different to sellers who have a range of new lines that require little listing maintenance.
So bottom line is that I wouldnt recommend Ebay as a sole source of income.0 -
More pics of my favourite sheep for Alf. It's par for the course that I'd like an obscure breed, eh? http://www.fuzzytoday.com/2013/01/14/valais-blacknose-sheep/0

Two men brought in poles for the new electric lines this morning, ready to pop them in on Monday. The digger driver was very Welsh and keen to finish so that he could "get on home for the weekend." I didn't want to spoil our relationship by pointing out that it was still before 10 am on Friday.
Anyway, he was delighted when I told him he could leave the digger here rather than up the road. ( The fewer movements the better with the ground as it is!)
I told him to make sure he took the keys, or my mate, Pete, seeing such a large machine, might borrow it and do four days work.;)
He didn't get it! :rotfl:0 -

Totally agree Rhiwie - our sole income is from eBay sales and we've been selling there for over ten years now (although back then DH had a *proper* job) and we have seen plenty of changes, no doubt about that......and most not for the better IMHO
We really need to get a website up and running - DS could do it for us as he did one for his business, but that's now on the back-burner as he was offered some part time work by one of his connections from the law firm he worked for previously and we seem to have taken over his *shabby chic* business too, lol!
DH sells *preloved* stuff too - music related - and is a relatively small seller compared to some, but he's determined never to go back into the workplace proper, so make it work we must......have had a very good year or so though
BD - the new stove looks fabby and toasty, you must be really pleasedThe cladding we're thinking of using is the Marley *Cedral Weatherboard* which I seem to recall another Daydreamer mentioning earlier in the thread......
CTC - your pork looks amazing......scrummy
Do hope Rummer and Rumlet are ok........Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

lol...
There is a certain make digger machine that is basically one key fits all, and I thought if Pete knew this, it would not make any diff if the driver took the keys or not...lol...Work to live= not live to work0
