By the way thanks to lucielle and maggie for diet suggestions.
Having looked at the Portfolio diet, I know it's not for me, being veggie and focused more on lowering bad cholesterol. I don't think I have a cholesterol problem, but have to wait for a final verdict on that.
The Harcombe diet might a goer, if I need to have some kind of structure or support, but I will try the 'Doing Without' diet first and see where that gets me, particularly the bit where I don't have puddings, or at least not ones based on Lidl ice cream...:o:o
Then there's the reducing hidden salt/sugar stuff too, although I really know where it's hiding! :rotfl:0 -
It must be spring. Our hens think so anyway, as we're moving back towards decent production and selling again.
Also, I notice the agents are rolling out those hard to shift properties once more. Here's one we were offered when it was 'freshly laid.'

The agent was very enthusiastic, but the words at the very end of the ad were mentioned almost in his first breath, and he seemed offended when I replied that we'd not even give it a viewing. The area's OK. (I like the dirty lense effect on the pics too.)
It was £375k then.....0 -
Morning all, at silly o'clock in the morning.
Choille.. yep all my fault.... lol...
Davesanve I would love a place like that, well the out buildings and the farm yard... but with my house...and the pond..lol..
With the ranch now, its getting to that stage... where proper money is involved now.. up until now it has basically only been the stonemason, scaffolding, the standblaster, sand lime mortar etc, NOW it is windows, guttering, chimney seen too inside and out.. more lintels.. bathroom, extending the roof by one slate on the pine end.. flooring.. electrics.. plumbing...drainage around the house PLUS the wonky end of the house...lol...ooo ye I forgot and the potential of the water pipe that feeds the house potentially being re-newed all the way from half way up the lane.... ( not cheap) as it exposed in some places, so does/did tend to freeze in very cold weather...Work to live= not live to work0 -

Went through thinking "Its not that bad. Hodge-podgey and old-fashioned" and then spotted the W******* word. Is that what you meant? I looked at a lovely house here and it was hanging around and going down in price and doing more hanging-around and going down in price.....but I'd been told the W******* word about it and wasn't interested either. It did sell actually soon after I saw it by the look of it...
I'm wondering if a property I didn't have on my list but the EA here was determined I should have a look at it will be re-appearing for sale again soon. Errrrrm....I'll hazard a guess that it has recently flooded (just as I thought it would) and the amount of work needing doing to it anyway was  (well even more  than the one I actually bought...).
I shall now be watching for "stale egg" properties with interest....:rotfl:
Go on folks...howzabout a "Money spent to date" list. Some of us yur needs cheering-up at around £25,000 spent to date and counting by some point next month....0 -

So far only a can of magnolia paint for the kitchen just to lighten up until we decide what to do in there. It was grey when we moved in and it was like being inside a shipping container and as Mr BD hated it too it was the first to go.
Coming up shortly.....well probably about £2k on stove+installation and hopefully no more than £10k on windows and doors if they can't be saved. New oil tank......not sure of cost yet, but will have to be done.
Yes Davesnave I had noticed EA's wheeling out a few old favourites again...earlier than I expected. Still they may have some luck this year, the market is rising fast round here some daft prices already - I can't believe they want the best part of £300k for this http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-44440400.html?utm_content=ealertspropertylink&utm_medium=email&utm_source=emailupdates&utm_campaign=emailupdates1day&utm_term=buying&sc_id=11282362&onetime_FromEmail=true
We have the same fitted bedroom units although without mirrors, as in pic 3 - anyone got any bright ideas on how to make them more attractive? It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

BTW hats off to Rozee on trying to fit in an intensive Welsh course on top of all the renovation you are doing. Guess you are doing one of those 4 hours in a day ones in order to get it done in an (academic) year.
Whew!
It's been all I can do to manage to fit in the gentler version of 2 hours a week over 2 years with all the comings and goings of workmen and rather less work to do than you.0 -
yep, easy, put a full size picture of Johnny Depp on there...especially one that make him look rough and ready...lol..Work to live= not live to work0

Errrmm..on those wardrobes..maybe lime-washing type effect and then some stencilling (I'm picturing flower stencil bits in about the length of a wooden spoon and just a couple of inches wide at intervals, eg as a border type effect perhaps).0

How much have we spent on this place?
Hmmm, no idea really, but it's basically nothing on the house, bar some tins of paint and everything on the land and barns.
I would guess at £20k. Of course we should have kept detailed records, and we did for some things, because we ran a *cough* 'business' and set as much as we could against tax, but I haven't the paperwork to hand.
Everything done thus far is stuff which needed to be done. I suppose the recent fencing off for a copse was the first 'luxury' spend, in the sense that it wasn't necessary and wouldn't have added value.
I would like to think that our build won't exceed £100k. :rotfl:0 -

In a word, yes.
They take an age to shift. That place has huge and wonderful trad outbuildings too, but you'll notice there's no close up of those. I would bet serious money on them needing costly repair, never mind converting them, which might be more costly than it'd ever be worth.0
