Is that Mr Pratt's alternative sheep dip, alfie? :T
Liked the goat rescue,. I think the Ranger guy was brave, but he should carry some wire cutters.
Glad GD1 is OK, rhiwie, whatever she's done to your cash flow.
Congrats itsme. Strawberry is good. Lets hope she is a peachy sleeper too. :A0 -
congrats itsme  is she your first ?
two of the painter/decoraters in friends house came to help me with digging out sheep at first. and a young son of the builder. we were attempting to dig when we heard "well help me:(" we turned round to see one of the painters up to his thighs in the bog  unfortunatly we laughed...and laughed .:o
the 2 lads had to dig HIM out...thats when we thought the fire brigade best do the sheep...:D :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Congrats ITSME....wonderful news
Alfie... OMG... is this on your land???? has it been caused by the drains saga???
Is mr/mrs sheep ok????
Got a right corker on ebay... trying to say they didn't get the item... looked at the feedback they have left for other sellers.... seems as though over the last month every seller is getting with both barrels... this new flipping ebay policy about guaranteeing their money back is getting abused left right and centre.. so I reported them before they have a chance to open a case, which they have threatened me with about an hour ago, but have heard nothing from the bay about it yet, or as I have reported them first, maybe they cant open a case against me???Work to live= not live to work0 -
Alfie -I heard baaaaass & went and got lamb out out of a very tricky situation this evening.
Hope everyone is fine, it's mild but stormy...........0 -
Morning all,
frosty here this morning...
as we are not far off the end of the year...from a daydream/land point of view what are your thoughts/reflections... and what are your plans for 2014.
Me it was a VERY bumpy and stressfull start to the year... with big work decisions to make etc.. which totally put the ranch on hold..
I have learned to try and be patient, as I have noticed my thoughts and ideas have changed for the ranch with time... and in all honesty are more realistic financially.. so as I have mentioned I am sooo glad in one way I didn't have the money to do the ranch straight away from that point of view..
2014 I def need to start using and developing the garden area around the house... especially now we don't get any fruit/veg waste anymore for the pigs...
oooo ye and hubby still wants his own mini digger.... def will not have one in his Christmas stocking this year... unless its a toy one....lol...
right off to work we go...Work to live= not live to work0 -
It's difficult to know whether I'd buy a digger if starting another project. It would have to come with a dumper, so that's two extra machines to maintain. People who own them have to make them pay one way or another, but renting them out is only fine until they break.....The thing is, people like Pete can repair them too. I can't.
On balance, I think getting to know digger people is the better option.:)
I completely agree about being patient and waiting till ideas about a new property settle. Developing a place is an organic process, but there are always obvious things which can be started upon straight away. Here it was putting in boundary fences and getting rid of weeds/inappropriate planting. It was only later, after we'd been here a year or two, that we knew what shape and size the garden was likely to be.
Blooming house took 3 goes!:o:o
This has been a good year for us, with much achieved in the preparation for building/sorting out issues departments, with a bit of land taming on the side.
The workmen came at 8.30 am today. Why the people with the traffic lights need to attend all the time is a mystery. After all, the lights work fine all night. I would like their job.
Anyway, the butch guys seem to be digging a hole in part of the bit they filled-in yesterday......:rotfl:0 -
Cannot think about next year. Didn't think things from the year before last would still be unresolved by then, Didn't think this year would have been so expensive and bloody well expected to have more garden,

Many thanks for all the good wishes. Yes, alfie, she's the first although I have several step-grandchildren. I'm a great believer in the fact that, if we want to "Save the Earth" keeping the population down is by far the biggest step we can individually take.
Glad they sorted the sheep. The goat would probably have benefitted from the same, fire brigade, treatment or, at the least, someone going off to get some wire cutters instead of just watching the show.
Unproductive (apart from the generational side) year here, as you know.
My rule of thumb is always to live in a place for a year before you decide what to do with it. Until one has experienced it in all seasons I don't think one can judge the best plan of attack
Hopefully, my next place won't need too much of the planning side. If I get my way it won't even have a garden just a large terrace :cool:0 -

:rotfl:Betcha' it would be interesting to see their faces if they find out t'Internet is "talking" about them....:rotfl:. A fetching shade of red might be a good description...;)0
