They moved it on 24th September.
If you go that far back into this thread, there's a piccy of the old one coming down. The new one is in the picture above.
Only took 6 men (from Tavistock & Plymouth) and a whole day to do it! :rotfl:
Rummer, its nothing personal. Being on hold is a new British tradition.
Still, look on the bright side, if you lot get independence, you'll no doubt get bagpipes and Kenneth Mc Kellar, instead of Enya! :rotfl:0 -
right, sorry I thought it was going to be moved completely...my memory is like a sieve....
weather is nice and sunny at mo, very cold though..
We didn't bother putting any Christmas decorations up last year,
and this year, just doesn't seem like Christmas at all, maybe I should try and make an effort..
I think the problem is, as I do most of my Christmas shopping online now, an don't spend a day or two going round the shops, looking for ideas and gifts etc, its taken the umf out of it.. I must admit I used to like going Christmas shopping... but it was a lot easier when the kids were a lot younger... as you ued to buy the things that you would have liked as a kid...lol...
So maybe going the royal welsh winter show on Monday will put me in the 'mood'Work to live= not live to work0 -

We do our shopping online now but in the run up to Christmas we go into town and go to the Christmas market and have mulled wine and mince pies and then go out for lunch. That way we soak up the atmosphere without having to queue
I remained on hold for what seemed like ever to be told that the computer would not allow them to make a simple change to my account and that I will need to call monthly to slowly move the date back  I mean really!!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

No, if they'd taken the pole away, we'd have had all the inconvenience and no money.
As they weren't willing to put it back in Mr Dog's garden, we took the wayleave cash + over £100 compensation.
After all, it only takes up a tiny amount of ground. Our objection was that it stood right in the way of the fence we've just put in.0 -
quiet here tonight...
Been doing a 'bit' of cleaning today.... spent most of the afternoon just chilling out, as I know we are going to have a manic day tomorrow...
Cold outside now..
Alfie How did is your pop up doing??
Please don't forget I would like to have/buy those taps you said you haveWork to live= not live to work0 -
hello all! I've been trying to get back on here for what feels like a week or so, but I expect is miles longer. Time is flying and I'm holding things down with the skin of my teeth. It is such hard work in the caravan and, when the weather is bad, it's even more arduous.
I had a grim fortnight (that's when you don't hear from me - I can't muster the energy): The builder confirmed he wouldn't be complete til the end of December and things on site were so slow. The some huge cracks appeared that appeared structural and gave me a sleepless weekens. We've had the structural surveyor and building control look at it and we are rebuilding a part of the wall. More cost, but it seems it will genuinely be the last unanticipated expense in this build.
When the builder leaves most of the plastering will be done. After Christmas we will start to clean up and slowly move in. I have resigned myself to spending another Winter in the caravan, but it will be half and half. If the weather turns really bad, we can be in the house with a toasty woodburner and central heating. We are fine if the weather is dry. I quite like it: we ahve a fantastic selection of thermals. It's when it's wet and windy that it's miserable.
Our menagerie continues to expand. I have a rationale now for any more birds I buy. We've decided to go down the dual purpose route for next year and a chap who I've come across at the Rare Breeds Poultry Society is going to source some La Bresse-Galoise hatching eggs for me in February and can also supply me with Ixworths. I have turned into a total poultry nerd and I'm thrilled to bits about this. I've not bought any more birds since Alfie helped me out with the Sebastopols, although this week, I could not resist an Ixworth POL bird I came across locally and I'm picking her up tomorrow.... We've had sausages from the pigs and they tasted amazing. It's so nice to know the provenance of your food.
Well done, BD, for completing on your house purchase. It sounds like you've hit the inevitable post-euphoria slump. I can tell you all about those having been involved in this building project for the last six months....0 -
Rummer - what a PITA, hope you got it sorted in the end
CTC - sounds as though you deserved to take it easy after all your prep for tomoz......re: your *friend* setting up in opposition, it never ceases to amaze me how petty some people are
Hope it goes well for you
rozeepozee - you have it far worse than us on the project-front - at least we're past the major building phase and living amongst the dust, lol - but you're deffo right about the *post-euphoria slump* - that set in for me about twelve months ago and getting the work finished doesn't seem to be hitting the spot in my case unfortunately.....
Today DH has been busy tiling with glass mosaics in one of the new shower rooms. The plumber is due back to finally finish off both rooms next week which will be fantastic - apart from paying him his £4500 - so we need to get a wiggle on as there still seems like loads to do! To have two extra loos plus a shower room adjacent to our one finished guest room all ready in time for Christmas will be a huge tick on our list of projects......plus the dogs will have their *own* shower downstairs, lol :rotfl:
We did pop into Shaftesbury for a bit of Christmas shopping this morning, but we too seem to do most buying online these days

Stunningly good weather here today, so I chose to be the 'orrible bloke who spoils things with a bonfire! :rotfl:
No, seriously, I looked at the forecast, and with our many neighbours to consider, this looked like the best option for quite a while. I had the original pile, plus about five dumpy bags we'd not managed to bury up at the Dog End. They all went.
For light relief, I also began raking the hump area Pete levelled to remove large stones, but that will take a few more days, on and off. How wonderful to be able to rake dry soil in December!
We were just finishing tonight (DW had emptied the shed which needs relocating) when two loads of logs turned up, one hardwood and one soft. So, that's us stocked up until the New Year.:snow_grin0
