Well, you'd be right there:

It was also the title of a novel by Winifred Holtby, I can see the appeal, its a nice name0 -
mmm considering retraining as a woman plumber... gets me out of current job (which makes me ill with stress) and would be handy when I got my small holding and likely run down house that needs dealing with.0

At the risk of getting my head shot off I had a laugh at one of the dream builds on telly last night. The couple were struggling with their budget, pan camera to the woman berating one of the trades for describing her paint choice as "mushroom" colour. Its Charleston Grey she exclaimed, not mushroom, its Charleston Grey. Hope that F&B gave her some freebies!0

:rotfl: What is it with F&B? They seem to attract the same customers as the NT  which is somewhat concerning.
It all leaves me wondering if both brands aren't just seen as a sort of ladder for social climbers. It's a [STRIKE]puppet[/STRIKE] paint for Pete's sake :rotfl:0 -

I use them.. The flat matts are beautiful. (I actually prefer little greene for colour, and we are using them, but the flat chalkiness of f and b is somehow deeper.
I know you used lime, and then made the point that's its hard to match afterwards. That's the joy with a commercial paint. I can touch up as needed, no stress, no fuss. As we have ongoing work in all rooms it seems prudent to be able to repaint! (Actually once the bathroom is finished painted, that's it...short of maintenance we'll have our first FINISHED ROOM!
If it were COLOUR then I think the f and b range is certainly rather beatable indeed.0 -

You use them but you aren't 'precious' about them, LIR.
Some people seem to consider them as some sort of status symbol. That's the sort I was referring to.
We only use lime on the old walls. The newly plastered ones all get a Wickes Trade paint jobNo point using lime where it isn't necessary but where the plaster & walls are old & need to breathe it's the best choice we find.

Couldn't be less precious about them.
I only care about the light quality/refraction and the colour.
Couldn't care less which historic organisations use them or lend their name to them at least, or the funny names, (could be numbered or called cat vomit for all I care.....though some are nicely named I think it can be distracting in fact, some are straightforward misleading I think. )
Yep, couldn't give a toss about the make. I almost NEVER use plain white, but have just done on bathroom woodwork. It was the cheapest eggshell I could get. I might change my mind and want an off white and then I'll look at the options, but for a 'white white' seemed no point in seeing what more expensive options were over cheap ones:rotfl:. Also, I discovered LAST year that the f and b grey colour we've used outside is exactly available in a cheaper range, and so we swapped to that half way through, it was a better finish for exterior metal too.
Edit: I think for others who aren't that confident. they probably are a useful edit of colours. There are no 'duff ones' or difficult ones. Even the 'brave' choices seem to coordinate quite well. (I think its the light refraction thingy) and the darker neutrals are really where their colour range is IMO strongest.0 -
