When did this become the Enrepeneurs Thread? I am leaving as I feel very attacked and unhappy.
Goodbye.0 -
Maggie, I certainly did not want to make you (or anyone ) feel attacked, I apologise.
Don't leave.
I've been thinking for a while that I don't feel my heart is in it. So if anyone has to leave because of a disagreement (something I don't see as necessary) I will.0 -
??????????
Maggie.. there is no need to leave, or LIR.. I just thought it was a healthy discussion, like other subjects we have..
There are some observations, remarks, as an employer could have offended me, but they don't, as Everyone is intitled to their own opinion... and I respect them...
I took the conversation in general, as how landlords, people who buy land to offset tax etc, as a very valid conversation when it comes to people trying to get a foothold on the smallholding life, whether that be buying or renting..The conversation was in general.. and not an attack on anyone...Nobody know anyone's exact circumstances on here, ( Well some people know a little more about each other, as close friends have been formed), and as LIR post ( and Alife's, Rhiwie's) from first hand experience there is a vast amount of people who work their butts off, long hours, put up with crap, lose loads of friends, and gain false ones, which a lot of people don't see.
Back at the Ranch, With the temps dropping, we don't know how much longer the stonemason can work:o as,soon as it goes below 5c then he will have to stop, and there might be a stand still until spring on the stonework front..which will give me a bit of time to try and save a bit of more money... in that time We will prob have the back of the house sandblasted....
Right off to have a cuppa:DWork to live= not live to work0 -
I do hope that no-one leaves as the result of what I found an interesting and thought provoking discussion. Like all friends we will differ in opinion, it read to me as people putting forwards different points of view and not a personal reflection on individuals.
Everyone here is valued and has something to add to the thread whether in the thick of the Daydream or still doodling about it in notebooks. Often something will happen and I think oh (insert name) on the dreamers thread would find that funny/know all about it/help me see things from a different perspective.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Should you have gone to Specsavers, CTC?
I've just caught up on the sleep I lost over the wedding weekend, and rather glad that I did.
After that experience, which involved making some extreme personal compromises in order to sustain a pleasant, non- confrontational atmosphere*, what anyone writes on an internet forum is, frankly, pretty small beer!
*We middle classes do this sort of thing so well!!!:rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Hi Maggie, sorry if any of my posts upset, they certainly weren't meant as an attack on anyone.

Just found out that a game fish cosh is called a priest
Yes, but as a child I always regarded those as a totally useless object that only adults would lug around!:rotfl:
WARNING! : rather graphic description coming up. Look away now if you are squeamish!
Any country child knew then that the fastest way to kill a trout was to bend it's head backwards until the spine snapped. That was not only quick, but definitely meant no fish wiggling about in the bag for an hour or so after catching. That's horrible!:(
Of course, as we rarely caught anything in excess of 3/4 lb the priestly route wasn't necessary. Our method wouldn't have worked very well on a 10lb salmon! :rotfl:0 -
Aggghhhhhh........
As some of you may recall we finally exchanged on our purchase last week and we have nearly a month between exchange and completion. So last Tuesday I rang my insurer to arrange buildings insurance on the new house.
The policy schedule arrived on Thursday. But they had insured the wrong property. Apparently there is another property with the same name, in a street of the same name, in the next village (also beginning with a 'W'), and it is only the last letter of the postcode which is different.
So I rang up the insurer and pointed out the error. Oh dear they said, we are sorry (but don't worry you are insured - ha wouldn't fancy my chances if the house burnt down)
We will send you the correct policy. Tapping of keys. Sorry we can't send you a policy that starts from the 5th November (something to do with the software) the policy will have to start from 15th November, but we will send a covering letter confirming the policy actually starts on 5th November.
Policy arrives on Saturday, but no covering letter. I ring the insurer again. Very sorry, we will send the letter out recorded delivery.
Letter arrives this morning confirming the policy started on 5th November. But no prizes for guessing which address the insurer has put as the insurred property :mad::mad:
Rung the insurer again and had a Kafkaesque conversation where the insurer insisted that the property insured was the wrong one as that is what they had on their computer. I restrained myself, with some difficulty, from pointing out that given that I had paid them £192 last week it was likely that I had a clear idea of which property I was insuring (and buying!), whatever their bloody computer said.
Eventually the penny dropped, as I was speaking to the same woman who I spoke to on Saturday. She has promised faithfully to send out another letter. Will this one have the correct details??? Await the next thrilling instalment........
Busy day today, someone from Healthwatch coming to see if they will help our patient/carer group with the problems we have had for years with the Provider of our local ME/CFS Service. Wish me luck, I will need it
Sorry, have only skimmed the recent posts, but hope you are all OK and Mabel has perked up.It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

How irritating Better Days!
Today I have mainly been on hold to various companies and getting nowhere fast. So I have popped my complaints in writing to save me listening to anymore hold music.
Ah well I have my flu jab later to look forward to :rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
