Friends, newbies, lurkers......
'Tis currently quiet here on the Western Front. :j
I'm up early, having retired early and slept like a baby through whatever came our way.
It seems to have been tipping down all night, so I think there may be a few flooding issues rather than loads of trees down in this area.
On the other hand, there isn't a light to be seen on the other side of the valley and the street lights in the little town aren't visible, so I may be quite wrong!
Update later when I can see something....:)0 -
We have power......
Took dogs out , checked horses alive but agreed to do proper walk round when light. Worst obviously missed us. Fence panels down( happens multiple times a year) few pots over, gate post down.....cannot see rooves yet....0 -
morning all:j
well the storm either totally missed us, or I slept right through it:rotfl:, It was bad on Saturday night..
Havent put the tv on yet, so maybe I should to catch up with what has happened with the weather and damage etc..
Alfie so glad you got home ok...you always get some ar$$oles on the road in bad weather who think they can drive like idiots in any weather:mad::mad:Work to live= not live to work0 -
Like others didnt hear much wind last night, though plenty of rain. Leccy and broadband working.
Perhaps St Jude responded after all?0 -
Good morning all,
Welcome to MrsAtobe! Thanks for delurking, don't hide in the shadows, you can see none of us bite.
I think we, too, have missed the worst of it. Next door but one has a couple of tiles off I think. Little weather station has shown that we had a maximum gust of 45.4kph / 28mph.
Alfie, Itsme and Lucielle, thanks for the caprine advice and experiences! Of course I wouldn't take on anything larger than a chicken (easy to rehome or eat) if there was anything uncertain about the income stream - that's the reason we didn't go to Spain, after all, so I know how perilous it is at the moment. This was just a little potential forward planning.
I have to admit to learning something, I didn't realise that milking animals have different shaped udders - I just assumed that they all had cow-like udders with two teats :rotfl:Then I saw a video on a battery powered milker and saw the shape of a goat's udder and thought...what a silly sod I am :rotfl:
Need to find a new job this week as at this rate I'll be skint for Christmas which I don't wantBetter get my rear into gear.
Hope everyone has escaped with minimal damage! *hugs*"...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -
Not a breath of wind here in Glasgow, blustery and wet yesterday but it's gone through; even the usual pools of standing water in the garden have drained although I can see the 'high water mark' in the deep gulleys between lawn and flower borders.
Reckon I'll get a couple of bags of pea shingle and dig a soakaway in the lowest corner just to get through the winter before doing French drains next spring0 -
It was quiet, and even sunny, when I went down to let the chickens out.
It's now bucketing down.
The rubbish collection happened on time and the buses are running.
Doesn't look too good down at the river though.... Pete will be busy.

Alex... I must confess I am now a bit baffled with the moving to spain??? how was you going to live out there, job money etc? You must have lost a lot more than just the air fairs.... I think I have asked before, couldn't you ask for your old job back? I presume you left there on goo terms, and as you were there for a very long time, and it must be one of their busiest times, I am sure they would have you back.
Also with the goats, its not as simple as just buying a goat and plonking it in your back garden etc. you have to have a holding and a heard number, and have movement licenses...etc
We are licensed for pigs and goats, even though we haven't got goats yet, we knew and some point in the very distant future we might have the odd pygmy goat:DWork to live= not live to work0 -
