Welcome to the mse family board where we will pick apart your life and make petty judgements on you based on your posting history which we will scrutinise until we find something to bring you down with.... no wonder people give up on this place.....
There is probably around £180k equity in my home. 2 years ago we spent £50k of our savings on an extension. We are both self employed but at the moment DH is bringing the vast majority of the money in and I'm pretty much a SAHM. We get no child benefit, no tax credits, no benefits.
Anybody want to pay for us to go on holiday?! No?
You don't have to dig too deep to see that the OP has around £140k equity in their house, spent £30k-ish on building works to their house last year and is a SAHM with a self employed husband. They are around £30k in debt. With work being slow I expect their take from the tax payer is significant.
Not so different, is it? So ehy should one get a free holiday and not the other?Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
So the holidays/breaks etc are for disabled people but the criteria isn't for people on DLA, is that right? Or have I missed a bit?
Some people choose not to claim DLA. Others have a low rate care award and are not classed as severely disabled. Others will receive DLA at whatever rate, but family income will be above the rate set by the FF.
Receiving DLA, especially at middle or high rate care, will be taken into account but is not the main issue. Criteria for the FF includes family income as well as disability. It also includes how disability impacts on the family as a whole, as well as on the disabled child.
I gave an example earlier of a child with learning difficulties and deafness, but the family was not eligible for a grant. The family income was low enough, but the impact of disability on the family was not deemed to be great enough - to use the Mother's words, her daughter was not disabled enough. Although this chid has learning difficulties, she can read well. She cannot manage maths though, and her overall learning is at a lower level than would be expected for her age. Her deafness, whilst definitely a disability, is corrected with hearing aids and she communicates with ordinary speech, not using sign language or any equipment to help her. Her speech is quiet, but easy to understand, possibly because her hearing loss has been gradual and she learned to speak before hearing aids became necessary. This child receives middle rate care DLA, but does not fit the criteria for the FF.0 -

So, if you knew someone socially IRL who one day was telling you about her expensive tastes in cosmetics and gadgets and the next day was asking for charity to take her family on holiday, you wouldn't put the two facts together and comment on it in some way?0 -

I know this wasn't directed at me but thought I'd say something.
If I knew someone socially I would know a lot more about them than reading a few posts about them on a forum. Like their family situation, what they wear and how often they go on holiday. Then perhaps I could empathise and understand without making assumptions.
Looking through other peoples' previous posts to take quotes to make your argument stronger is considered bad forum etiquette. Seems people love doing it on this forum which is very sad.Decluttering 2015: 2162/20150 -

Bad forum etiquette? :rotfl:
Couldn't that also be applied to someone who is asking how to get a charitable contribution for a family holiday whilst neglecting to mention their "can't do without" use of premium beauty products and recent expensive home improvements?:hello:0 -

i suspect cookiemonsta has answer this better than i will - but in that situation if i knew the person then i would know them as a bigger persona than a few forum posts. who am i to judge?
so someone uses clinque maybe they havent bought clothes for a few years and have made that choice. so someone with 3 kids bought a samsung tablet - with cashback the samsung tablets were going for £120 and £150 not so long ago - not an inconceivable amount to save up to treat the family or indeed self.notanewuser wrote: »Not so different, is it? what tangible difference does it make your life if the op goes on holiday paid for by a charity? absolutely none - but it irked you and others to troll through the ops posts to rage against it.
what message does it send potential posters on this forum to see posters gleefully looking up post history and picking at the op?0 -
In the interests of being fair, let's quote the whole post where Raq mentions autism, shall we?
Taken from a thread discussing the MMR jab at 09:07 today:
The OP says none of her 2 eldest have autism - no argument from me about that.
What makes you think that it's the 3rd child who is in receipt of disability benefits?
How do you know that one of the 2 eldest children don't have some other form of disability?
Have you read through all the OP's 1500+ other posts to enable you to say that the disability that the child is getting benefits for is 'mild autism'?
If you have, I'd suggest you are stalking her.
As other posters have said, if the OP isn't eliegible for something from the FamilyFund, then they won't get anything.Hi all
Our youngest child receives middle rate DLA. He is in reception year and one of the teachers have stated to look into FREE school dinners. I am really unsure whether we would get them.
Any help would be great
Many thanksTrying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

This is totally one of the reasons I have given up posting and asking for help. They try to twist and catch u out and make you feel stupid for asking. Intimidate you and at worse send horrible pms to you. I have found this forum lately to be vindictive and horrible. i cannot believe that people are allowed to get away with it. They go and check all your previous postings going back years and then pull you apart. i am sorry but i read and offer advice when I can but i have totally given up on posting any questions or threads myself...
Make £200 by end of January... £20.42/£200

But what you don't know is that it is the autism alone that the 3rd child gets DLA for. He is borderline autistic, or similar, but could also have additional disabilities that weren't relevant in that thread about autism and MMR....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Good grief... posts are there for all to see - if a story doesn't hold together then who is to blame for that?:hello:0
