House near motorway - would you buy?

I live about 120m from the M4, not far from J10. The motorway is elevated, about 15 to 20 feet above the surrounding land. There is a 6 foot high wooden fence at the edge of each side of the motorway.
The noise from the motorway does seem to be dependent on the wind strength and direction - I live west of it, so the prevailing wind tends to take the noice away from my house.
I'm never disturbed by the noise inside the house (all windows double-glazed), but it is usually quite noticeable outside, and leaving a window open will let the noise in. The proximity of the motorway does not seem to have any noticeable on house prices in my area, and the usual Estate Agent speak of 'conveniently located for motorway access' seems to apply."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
Oh dear
OP asks for advice - everyone responds 'dont do it'
OP gets snotty/rude and argues back.
If you'd made up your mind already why ask?
Go ahead, buy a house and get no peace and quiet.
Advice is not simply saying 'don't do it', it should be constructive. I am asking for feedback from people who have genuine experience of living in proximity to main roads, not just anyone who likes to express a view on any subject under the sun.0 -

Tancred, you have had plenty of valid and worthy contributions from people with experience of such things. Users such as jollymummy, citricsquid, Davesnave and jmt have all tried to put forward advice which you asked for!
You have singled out maninthestreet's post as being constructive because it suits you and the answer you want to hear. And that's fine! The only person here who has to live in the house you like is you! It doesn't effect me one iota if you take it or not. But it is pointless and time-wasting to come on here asking for opinions and then to reject, and quite frankly try to insult (country bumpkin anyone?) those who try to give you their opinion.
Just don't ask for it. Go along your own merry way, buy the house and find somewhere else for your playground behaviour.
Now how long will it be before I get called something ;-)First home purchased 09/08/2013
New job start date 24/03/2014
Life is slowly slotting into place :beer:0 -

As a suggestion, try knocking on a few doors in the same street as the property you are interested in, asking if they are disturbed by the motorway noise or not. This what I did when I was considering purchasing my current home."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
