1) a lump of wood
2) a block of coal
And I thought myself lucky.
You were lucky! We used to dream about a lump of wood or a piece of coal, but to have both! There was a program on BBC2 called Electronic Dreams or something like that where they took a family in Reading through the 50s to 80s with every few hours being a different year in that decade.
What was really interesting is the family actually enjoyed having one TV.
The kids were also happy with some of the random toys like the chopper.
However the daughter got annoyed when computers came out in the 80s that you connect to the TV as her brother hogged. This meant she couldn't go on the computer or watch TV.
What was interesting though is like when I was a kid and up until the start of this century - computers were used in a communal way i.e. you and at least one of your mates used one computer/games console together.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

When I was a kid, if I ate the right type of Slush Puppy, I would end up with a Blue Tooth.
Today my kids have BlueTooth.
What a difference a space makes
