I've used it a lot but not on ebay as it is banned.

I have used Google Checkout and it is not without its own problems. The final straw was when I discovered that session cookies remain even if you close the browser window or switch off your computer!
That means anyone logging into the same computer can access your Google Checkout account simply by going the the Google Checkout website. There is no need to enter e-mail address and password!
Initially, Google claimed the session cookies remained for 5 minutes, but their legal department now acknowledges they remain for 20 minutes. Google Checkout is the only financial HTTPS website I know of that maintains session cookies on browser closure, failed internet connection etc.
Given all the other problems I encountered, I have given up and closed my Google Checkout account.0 -
Hmm, interesting. I had started to see warning posts about Google checkout on other forums and wondered if it was an isolated problem.
I have used mine a bit, but as you say I was concerned that browsing between shops I still remained logged in. Even more noticeable is that I was clearing cookies as I was buying via Quidco, so got logged out of Quidco yet was able to click 'pay' without having to input my google details again.
Now that the £10 off offer has finished I will probably slow down if not cease my use of Google checkout. Maybe when I next need to use it any security hiccoughs will be sorted.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have just received a phone call from someone representing the head of legal services (Nigel Jones) at Google. That person told me that it was 'expected behaviour' but he did note my comments.
He pointed out that logging into Google gives access to many Google products (not just Google Checkout) and it would be frustrating if users had to keep loggin-in!
Anyway, I have lodged a complaint with the Financial Services Authority who say they will investigate but that their findings are confidential and they will not advise me of the outcome!
I am registered on 30-40 financial websites and I have never experienced this problem before! Even non-financial websites (such as forums) have better protection than this - at least you can often say you don't want to keep session cookies - but Google Checkout does not provide this option!0 -

Paypal is not secure in this THIRD-WORLD country as long as I can give my name as Davebrooker, pay with Ms Frivolous_fay Soolin's card detail(CC/debit card or direct debit), and have it delivered to Stuart P Bailiffchaser's address.
NOW THAT IS A FACT THAT ALL YOU PAYPAL PROMOTER CAN VERIFY BY YOURSELF.WHAT I SAID NEVER CHANGED ANYONE, WHAT THEY UNDERSTOOD DID:A0 -

How many times,
as a buyer, if you have buyer protection, you are covered.
as a seller, if you are eligible for seller protection, you are covered.
The vast majority of horror stories are from people not understanding the importance of making sure that they are covered, then blaming everyone else for the fact that they didn't when something goes wrong."There is a light that never goes out"0
