It is certainly the safest way to pay, it is the *only* way you stand any chance of getting anything back if the seller is a rogue.

If the seller is a rogue you won't end up with their address if you pay by paypal.

Look it from the scammers point of view, which is better, a payment method where you just need a hotmail address and leave no trail, or one where you need a postal address...

For obvious security reasons i cannot disclose how unsecure paypal is. Regardless of how much they try and convince you that they are secure they are not. There are alot of loop holes pitfalls and despite them giving you various money back gaurantees and also buyer protection and so on. If you have had the unfortunate luck of dealing with them you will know exactly what i mean.

I know first hand how dodgy paypal is when it comes to refunds.

When the seller's account is empty you get no refund.

Dave, I can't stress enough how dangerous it is to try to convince people paying by cheque on ebay is safe, just because you get an address. An address? Big deal!

I hope someone else can persuade you because nothing I say appears to be sinking in.

Sure, paypal has its flaws but it is the SAFEST way to PAY on ebay.

I wouldnt really say that. You need just one hit from a fraudster and your paypal account is deptived of the money straight away.

Of course it's safe, you have the name and address of the person you are buying from.

With paypal you may just have a hotmail e-mail address.

How can any system where you do not get the sellers details be a safe one?

And you do not have their details, so you can't persue them.

This is why the scammers are so fond of it...

Because if paypal fail to get my refund, I'll be straight on the blower to my credit card, who have no problems giving me my cash back.

Seriously, if you've really been ripped off through paypal 4 times as you say, it's time you started being more choosy about who you buy from, and get a new credit card.

Hasn't happened yet. When I get ripped off for 99p, I'll be sure to come back and post about it.
