Thats a crazy price increase!
WTH?
Instead of creaming off the top of the RM price hike (Ive had loads of things delivered to me via hermes since the price hike and sent almost all of my things via them) they've just jumped on the bandwagon!
Its just not worth selling really.
Who wants to pay over a fiver delivery on a pair of jeans or jumper?Just because you are offended, doesn't mean you are right0 -

Will the price increases mean that the people who actually deliver the packages in their family cars receive more money for doing so?
I checked their Facebook page, and I think the answer to that is no. Someone asked that specific question on a thread and MyHermes have skirted round answering it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Well that sucks. It's unfair and will mean that (in my opinion) MyHermes will be exploiting their emply^H^H^H^H^H contractors to an even greater degree. And also it's the people who actually collect/deliver who are most important in determining the quality of service received by the customers. And if they're not being paid reasonable rates, they've got little motivation to give a good service.0 -
With 6 days notice which means I either have to cancel my current auctions with bids, or , pay the additional £1.20 myself . I will of course be doing the latter, but I think it is poor customer service to rush through a change with no notice.
That sums up MyHermes completely, poor customer service.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -

My sister is a MyHermes courier, and says she's not expecting a wage increase! Interestingly she doesn't get paid any more for collecting a signature or for a heavier parcel (although as customers we pay extra), and she also says that there is no standard wage rate for couriers either - when you are recruited, they pay you the minimum they think you will accept!
The price hike won't affect me too much, as the increase in the basic price is offset by the fact that they have put up the compensation levels. Nearly everything I send via MyHermes weighs 1-2kg and is valued at over £20 so I had to pay extra for the weight and to increase the compensation. Now they've increased the weight limit and upped the compensation level to £50 I won't have to do that for most of my items, so won't end up too much out of pocket. Not brilliant news if you use them for bulky but low-value items, though.0 -
The price actually went up today or tonight (possibly after their 10 pm cut-off). I paid for an item tonight and instead of £4.32 it cost £5.20.
I wonder if sellers have diminished on EBay since the Royal Mail price hike. One of my items which would normally have gone through Royal Mail for £2.20 jumped to £5.20 because it has to be folded into 3 so will not go through the 3 inch slot. I decided to list it with Hermes as the courier at £4.32 for a signed for delivery. It ended yesterday but still not paid for so now it's going to cost £5.20. It leaves me 80p out of pocket. So an item which sold for £2.99 and once EBay and Paypal fees are deducted, the extra 80p courier charge and the postage bag that leaves me with £1.23. I can see a great many people stopping selling now on EBay, myself included. I'm having a clearout of my bigger sizes after losing weight but am becoming very disillusioned. Who is going to pay for a used item of clothing or shoes and then pay £5.20 delivery charge. Not very many I would think!
Royal Mail and Hermes and possibly other courier companies are becoming very greedy but they have not worked this out properly. The amount of parcels which must cross the UK since EBay became so popular years ago must have increased the work of Royal Mail and couriers vastly which is good news for them. By putting these prices up for bulkier clothing and shoes etc, people just won't buy so down goes Royal Mail and courier deliveries and down go many jobs for the drivers also. Maybe they don't really want this extra work but I wouldn't think that is true. Do you think that they haven't really thought this through to realise that we won't be buying second hand clothing if the delivery charges are so high?
I think the 'powers that be' are trying to kill EBay and get us all back to the High Street.............thoughts anyone?"For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."0 -
No I do not believe there is a conspiracy, I think couriers have realised that Royal mail have shot themselevs in the foot a bit and can increase their own costs in a very competitive situation.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
