Do you keep your eggs in or out of the fridge?

I remember my grandparents never kept ketchup in the fridge, and once I unscrewed the cap and it flew up and hit the ceiling! I hadn't been opened for many months.0

In the fridge simply to keep surfaces clear.somethingcorporate wrote: »What about sauce? never kept tomato sauce in the fridge until I moved in with my (now) wife.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

out - eggs shouldn't be refridgerated. They come in a handy little box specially designed for them. and if the stores don't chill them - then there is no need for the home cook to.0

Mine are in the box they came in on the side in the kitchen.
I've never kept eggs chilled.
At one of our local supermarkets, they are kept right next to the hot chicken counter, and I mean right next to it. The egg boxes closest to it feel warm.
I would never store eggs like that and I never buy them from there!0 -
I keep my eggs in the fridge just because there's nowhere else to put them! I have a tiny kitchen and there's literally no workspace or room in the cupboards spare. So, the eggs are safest in the fridge
Tomatoes live on the windowsill, in the sunshine. It warms them up and makes even supermarket tomatoes taste nice.0 -
I've always believed eggs shouldn't be refrigerated. Eggs have permeable shells & membranes, so the moisture is literally gradually sucked out of them inside a fridge. Possibly they'd be better in the salad drawer - that's also why there is a salad drawer, so your veg doesn't lose too much moisture - but they're fine kept at room temperature as long as they're reasonably fresh when you acquire them.
Another spiral or Egg Skelter owner here, with 8 chickens laying for 5-7 humans! It says something that I've hatched - or rather, my bantams have hatched - eggs that were laid up to 10 days before the incubation started, at chickenshed temperatures. In other words, they were still fresh enough for a chick to form & grow 10 days after they were laid.Angie - GC Sept 25: £226.44/£450: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 28/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
In.
They'd be smashed all over the kitchen if it was out.. plus they go off quicker.
I've not found any difference with yolk breakage with fridged/non-fridged eggs .. and I always cook them at a low temp as I can't stand crispy bits on them.
the crispy bit is the best bit!!!Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500 -
Yes and no. Living on my own, I put the newly bought eggs in the fridge, to keep them fresher for longer. However. I also keep 6 in a cardboard egg box in the cupboard. I use these, then replace them with ones from the fridge. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

I do this too - I stock up on 18 at a time from Lidl or Aldi at 99p for 6 free range and rotate 6 at a time into an egg tray in the cupboardDownshifted
