Do you keep your eggs in or out of the fridge?

I always keep eggs in the fridge but I've just realised (doh!) that wherever I buy them - tesco, waitrose, budgen - they are on the room temperature shelves. Now I'm wondering why I've always put mine in a fridge at home.....
