Would you be sufficiently flexible to comply of they did.:-) :-)
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • If by that you mean would I complain if they had advised me to do something that wasn't possible - of course.

Because clicking on the confirmation of purchase brings up a statement which says that the "buyer" (even though it's free) enters into a contract with Sky.

This is the whole reason that there has been widespread discussion of this "offer", not just here but elsewhere online.

I actually stepped back from ordering this mainly because I don't really need it, but also "just in case" Sky argued I was entering into a new contract.
Let us know how you get on...

none of the terms stated a new contract, I read them, then read them again
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

It's not clear what it means when it says "you will be entered into a contract with Sky" at the sale confirmation screen. Does this mean existing customers remain under their original terms? Who knows?
All I know is that I'm not risking being held to a new minimum term for the sake of saving £21 on something I don't really need.

I don't have movies but thought I would change clicking through the links see what it came back with. I didn't get it free however it offered me one for 9.99

Don't know how or why but it arrived today

The wireless connector is now on general reduction to all at £9.99
It is 1 connector per compatible Sky+ box.
So if you have multi-room with fancy boxes like me you can get more than 1.

I have the terms and conditions that categorically state the new 12 month contract is only for fancy dan boxes that are sold at large discounts (less than £100) Ie a 2TB box for £49.99.
There is 100% no contract implications of getting a wireless connector for £0.00, £9.99 or £21.95.

What I find slightly odd about the whole offer is how it does not appear in your own personal offers area, and also how tricky it is to order at £0.00 as it takes you to the non-free price quite easily.

I think this is one reason why so much discussion of this offer has occurred around the web. I'm certain it's just Sky trying to limit the number of these which might otherwise go to people who don't really need them.
Personally, I'm content with Develo 500 Homeplugs.

The following is an extract of communication from Sky to myself if anyone is still in doubt about contract extensions.

I can confirm that if you take advantage of a free Sky Wireless Connector then this won't tie you into another 12 months minimum term with your current Sky package.

As this is an accessory then it doesn't share the same terms and conditions as our Sky boxes do.

Apologies for the confusion and I hope that helps, however if you have any other questions then let me know.
  • Just reporting back, as requested: my wireless connector arrived yesterday and is now set up; I rang last night to give notice of removal of Movies from my package and encountered no resistance.

The only reference to contract subscription terms in the letter I received relates to orders for a new Sky HD+ box or Multiroom subscription where the customer has to agree to subscribe for 12 months. These terms do not apply to Wireless Connectors.

This is confirmed in superbigal's post above.
