Oh controversial I know....
I went to the new m&s here on friday (parc fforestfach if anyones interested!) and asked if someone could measure me for a bra, as i wanted to buy new ones. 'oh no' says the young lady 'we dont measure for bras anymore, we FIT you for a bra'... 'ok' says I... 'crack on'...
Well, I dont know about you, but I bloody well expect someone whos 'fitting' me for a bra to at least know what the hell shes talking about. Im 6ft, ten stone, and size 8, but this stupid bloody girl kept INSISTING I was a 40a bra size!!! Now I aint no expert here, but i sure as hell know that I havent got a 40 inch chest!
Even though I protested, she brought me an armful of 40a bras, and then just left me there! Alone. Whilst she went back to gossip with her colleagues.
I was SO disgusted I stormed out, but now Im wondering:
a) should i write and complain, and
b) is this their new policy, to 'fit' you for bras, instead of measuring you?
And Breathe....

I actually think M&S should give up on bra fitting, I don't know of anyone who has had an accurate fitting there!
I would just put it down to a bad experience, and go to an independent lingerie store, or Bravissimo xGone ... or have I?0 -
The girl just obviously didnt have a clue what she was on about! I did end up going to an independant store, and they fitted me fantastically... Im wearing a 32d now, and my norks looks marvelous I have to say...
But 40a to 32d???? thats quite a difference...You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

I got measured there once, had to point out the tape measure was upside down for a start, then said the size I thought I was, and she agreed that sounded 'about right'. ah well.0

About (b), I don't know, I have no idea what the difference would be (I'm a bloke)
About (a), I would definitely complain. Not for any monetary reward, but can't wearing an ill-fitting bra cause back problems? And wasn't it M&S who used to advertise their fitting service on the basis that so many women had an ill-fitting bra?
M&S won't want people incorrectly measuring bras and they should be notified, so that this lady can be properly trained and the service improved.

M&S ALWAYS measure me wrongly. I'm a "well built" 5'6" and am currently a size 16/18.
I have relatively reasonable sized boobs (if I do say so myself) :rotfl: and currently wear a 40D/DD (depending on the style). They fit properly, with the underwire sitting correctly etc etc.
As I've lost about 1 1/2 stones lately I thought I better nip to get fitted when I was in M&S last. The lady came, measured round me and said I was a 48AA:rotfl: . She brought me one out. It hung off my middle and the cup just about covered my nipples!
My best mate who I was shopping with brought me in a 40D at that point - and what a surprise - a perfect fit.
I've since been to Bravissimo who looked at me and said "Oooh, you're about a 40 D, aren't you":TWe may not have it all together, but together we have it all

Im just narked cause the girls bloody attitude was 'i cant be arsed, you do it'... And im annoyed cause although ive got the sense to know they were wrong, imagine how many women she might have 'fitted' who didnt question her, and now walk round with their bangers round their waists! You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

i'd write a letter and complain! if she's going to be a smart !!!!! and say that she's not 'measuring' you but 'fitting' you, shouldn't she at least see if the bras she brought you do indeed fit?! be worth trying a department store like DH Evans (i think there's one in Swansea) as there doesn't seem to be a Bravissimo that close to you! Before Bravissimo I went to DH Evans (as was) in central london and found that the ladies there were really helpful.:happyhear0

Hm, thought it was just me being unlucky at Christmas in Newcastle in the supposed "super duper revamped refurbished" store when I went in for a bra fitting and was left alone for 45 minutes - great chance to sit down, but there was a horrendous queue when I finally gave up, came out and went to John Lewis. (Who weren't much better, I have to say.)
I've had more luck buying bras in approximate sizes from ebay (BNWT) and working out my bra size that way! I have to say I have no faith in bra fitters at the chain department stores, haven't tried Bravissimo or our local independent store yet!Exiled-Geordie-in-the-west-country (not quite in the middle of nowhere, but I can definitely see it from here!)0
