when lazy/short on time, I simply bung them in the oven to roast! lovely on its own! don't even need to peel the skin, just wash it and roast. when cooked, the skin just comes off with the littlest effort to reveal the soft sweet flesh! yum.
  • Hi there  I'll add this to the link that angelnikki gave to keep ideas together :A

    Um yum! Sweet potatoes!

I think of them as a traditional Thanksgiving side dish. That is to say, served with turkey. Would also work nice with a roast chicken. Sometimes, I just roast one to eat all by itself.

I like them "candied" - that it to say, cut small and cooked with plenty of butter and brown sugar in the oven. If you have some maple syrup to drizzle on, all the better. In America, towards the end of cooking, I would put a layer of marshmallows on top of them and let them brown in the oven. This wouldn't be very attractive with the pink marshmallows you have over here. And, I must say, it is very sweet. :D

  • I put them in with all sorts of roasted vegetables. They also bake really well - very nice with chilli butter - best to wrap in foil as they cook more quickly than ordinary potatoes and can explode in the oven. Nice with a piece of chicken or fish

A popular steak house chain in America (Long Horn) serves them baked with butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon. I always got them with my steaks, instead of regular potatoes.

Oh... I do so love me some sweet potatoes! :)

They make very good chips if you make your own.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
