They're lovely peeled and cut into chunky "chips". Then tossed in just enough oil to coat them, sprinkled with steak seasoning (or something similar) then cooked on a baking tray for about 30 minutes. 210C fan oven:wave:0

We like them baked and served with plenty of nutmeg and butter.
There's an older thread with loads of ideas, so I'll merge this one into it, to keep suggestions together.

Can anyone tell me how long sweet potatoes keep for? ... and if it's not very long, can they been frozen either raw or cooked?
They were on special offer in Lidl last week and I bought too many.TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -
I find that Lidl often have them in at half price so its not so important to stock up huge amounts.
I don't know if they go off but they seem to last forever in my darkish pantry. I've had them for quite a long time and they keep solid and don't grow the tubers that normal spuds do.0 -

I wouldn't keep them in a plastic bag though, picked up a bag of sweet potatoes in Tesco last week and they were absolute mush, my fingers literally sank into them - yuk!!!
I keep mine in the fridge and they seem to last a good couple of weeks.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
I've just been to the car boot sale and bought 25lbs of sweet potatoes for £2. DH wasn't keen as he thinks either he will have to live on SP mash for the next 2 wks or I will end up throwing most of them away, but they keep fairly well so I'm determined to use them without either boredom or waste.
I don't have masses of freezer space so huge batches of anything are not practical, but I think they will keep for a week or more in the larder so they don't all have to be dealt with immediately.
To prove to DH that his expectations are wrong I need to use them in as wide a variety of ways as possiblem, and I know what a resourceful lot OSers are.
Ideas please?Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
Sweet potatoes go well in a curry - use in place of something like butternut squash. Mash is of course the obvious thing, - try mixing them in with standard mashed spud, and something like swede as well in a three-root mash - delicious and something a bit different. Also they taste gorgeous as roasties, and even baked as oven chips.
A quick search on sweet potato recipes turned up this too - sounds delicious! Sweet Potato Gratin

I love spicy sweet potato wedges. Just give them a good wash..don't peel... blast in the microwave for a little while to soften, chop into chunky wedges...sprinkle on paprika and cayen pepper, drizzle of olive oil...lovely and not too naughty!Determined to be a thrifty Mama!0

I have made bombay potatoes with sweet pots before and it was lovely, and I imagine any king of curry would suit them. Taven't mixed them with other roots veges in mash before but that sounds a good one to try. The wedges sound lovely too so that's another on the list. Thanks guys!Oh dear, here we go again.0
