Well I've had a successful couple of days. Received £5 from recycling an old mobile phone and £22 from music magpie (well it's in the process of being paid). Decided to look and see how much cashback I'd get from asda home delivery as I'd never used them before (£7 ish) so set that up last night for Sunday delivery and then set up a Nationwide flexdirect account. The cashback is £70 and then you get 5% on your balance for a year. That's more than our savings acc so will transfer the money over to there. Also there is a £5 voucher off Aldi in the paper today so will be using that (I keep a note of how much I spend on grocery shopping each month and look to see where the cheapest place for certain items are and then plan my shopping around that (yes I've got a lot of time on my hands at the moment - I'm on maternity leave, but waiting for baby to make an appearance!!).

Also, dh sold his motorbike on ebay so just waiting for that to be sorted and then we'll have enough money to pay off Oakland furniture (though may keep money in the 5% account until it needs to be paid off - may as well get interest on it!!). I've sold a few little items on ebay as well so made a few pounds back there.

Completed a couple of surveys this morning. Not enough for any cashback yet, but getting there. Oh, and recycled 2 cartridges (though one failed the test :( ) so have got £3.75 there. Need to wait for the balance to reach £20 before I can touch it though!!!

Also, received a co-operative membership card through the post this morning as we tend to do our top up shops in the co-op (it's walking distance, whereas we have to drive to the other supermarkets) so will hopefully make something with that eventually!!!

Another successful day!! I've cancelled our life insurance. We took it out with our mortgage and were paying over £75 a month. I've taken out another policy which is more or less the same (not including one thing, but we've discussed we don't need it) and it is costing us £23.95 a month. We will be saving over £50 a month. Very happy with that!!

Well it's a shiny new month :) hopefully baby meeting month :j

Sorted out our budget for this month and did our HUGE monthly grocery shop yesterday over 3 different stores. Used a £5 off £40 Aldi spend, used Asda home delivery for the first time (good cashback offer!!) and got a couple of its from Tesco as they were cheaper and were passing anyway! That leaves us with around £35 left for food for the month and all we need with that is fruit, veg, milk (but not for a couple of weeks and bread (again not for a couple of weeks!). We're trying to stick to a £120 food budget this month.

Sorted out yesterday as well how much we aim to spend on different people for their birthdays and Christmas. Sorted out birthday presents for this month and came under budget :D also got 3 Christmas presents yesterday (unintentionally!!) but saw fab toys for our nephews at fab prices so couldn't resist. Spent £34.83 on 6 gifts where our budget was £30 on 3. Woohoo!!

Sold a couple of items on ebay. £20.39 transferred to savings account. Not bad for the first. Also waiting for £22 from musicmagpie which should be in the account tomorrow or Wednesday, a refund from New Look which again should be in within the next couple of days and a refund from Jojo Maman Bebe, which will hopefully be in soon. Altogether that will be almost £200 making its way into our savings. Then just waiting for quidco and topcashback to pay up which will be an extra about £120, but could be a few months before all that finds its way in!

Changed my barclaycard payment to minimum each month (we were over paying) because it is interest free at the moment and we are in the process of setting up an account which pays 5% on a balance of up to £3000. In my opinion it is better to make some money on the savings and in 12 months pay a massive chunk (hopefully majority of it) off the credit card. The interest free lasts until November 2014. By doing that as well, we have a considerable amount left over in our account each month (around £100) so will throw into savings to Evan interest.

Also, hopefully motorbike is being paid for next weekend, so that will pay off the furniture. I'm so excited about paying off all our debts and if we can continue to make extra bits of money from time to time, hopefully we can have a fair bit behind us pretty soon and will be able to afford holidays etc and I will be able to work part I've after maternity leave ends. :D

    Hi!!

We have no idea what we're having! Most people who look at my stomach say they think it will be a girl, but we have no idea. I am so excited!! How many children do you have? I'm now finding it going slowly now that I'm on maternity leave and just waiting!! That's why this finance is taking over at the moment, something to do!! It's definitely not a bad thing though!!

Checked my bank accounts before bed last night to see that I'd had refunds from 2 separate places. That's an extra £153.98 gone into the savings. Really want to get the savings up to £3000 as soon as possible so I can earn the maximum on them!

I bet the 10 weeks will go fast, though, especially as you have a dd to look after as well. We generally do a big shop once a month anyway, where the freezer is filled. We've got an upright fridge freezer so there isn't loads of space in there. Next month we may just use Tesco delivery or something similar (or I could ask dh to go). It's going to depend on when baby makes his/her appearance.

I've sorted all our birthday presents out for this month and only one more to get for August (birthday at the end of Aug) so that won't need worrying about.

How are you finding the pregnancy? I've been lucky and had it pretty easy up until the last few weeks. Now, everything hurts!! :)

  • Oh poor u :( i'm fine at the moment, its the last month i remember being hell last time. I honestly cant believe how quickly time has gone...

I think like u said with dd, and working full time i dont really have a chance to get bored.

I may use home delivery, but find i spend more?? Think its because u cant see the whole choice and tend to click on whichever brand u see.

U sound as though your very organised though so well done u :T

Won £10 today, which is being paid into the bank tomorrow :) Spent £4.98 in the Range on plastic cereal boxes and then craved chocolate so me and dh spent £5 (I blame pregnancy :) ) the money came from our spending money for this month, though, so it is allowed :)

Aiming for a nsd tomorrow. Car in garage so can't go anywhere. Plan for tomorrow is to do a few surveys, sort through books to sell and then do some baking :)
