What do your guests sleep on?

Due to my snoring, my bf tends to sleep downstairs on the fold out z bed. Its not that comfy (its as old as me at least
i got it from my grandparents) but he manages. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
We've got one like this and it's really comfortable. And easy to get out of too. I've used the mattress direct on the floor too and slept well, which considering I'm a living version of 'the princess and the pea' when it comes to bed comfort, says a lot:DDo you mean like this?

I was considering these. :undecidedI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
If it was one guest, we'd move DD into our bedroom or in with DS and make up DD's bed for the guest.
If it was a couple, we'd sleep on a double airbed in DD's room and make up our bed for the guests.
An airbed is not ideal, but for 1/2 nights its fine. When we need to replace our sofas we will get a sofabed in the living room, as its less hassle than having to pump up airbeds etc.
I wouldn't expect guests to sleep on a futon/airbed, one of the family would give up a proper bed for them. We wouldn't have guests to stay on a longer term basis, though, as there simply isn't really enough room to put them up comfortably.0 -

It did look like that that sort of thing but my mum had bought it so it was no doubt v cheap from somewhere!
I'm now racking my brains trying to work out why I was sleeping on a folding bed at my parents house which has plenty of 'proper' spare beds. 0 -

The second night was OK but it wasn't easy trying to scramble up out of it in the morning. I think my years of sleeping on the floor should be over at my age (58)
Sorry to interrupt, I have nothing to add to this thread as we have a number of spare beds BUT - BitterAndTwisted you are 58!? I honestly thought you were about 30!!! :rotfl:0 -

Well it looks like the general consensus of opinion is that a sofa bed might be the most preferred option comfort wise.
However, I can't justify spending sofa bed prices just for someone to sleep on temporarily, especially when we don't even need a sofa. (Sleeping on our main sofa itself isn't an option either.)
Ho hum, decisions decisions. What to do......
We have a great sofa bed from IKEA, and we found that they have the best range. Seems like almost all their sofas have a bed option, so they should have some cheap choices. Elsewhere the range was limited and expensive.
We have the karlstad, but at three seats its quite big. Super comfy bed though. We had to use it for a few months so we have tested it well.0 -
Airbeds... nightmare. Even worse was the double airbed; move around and your partner gets bounced out of the bed! When I used to go camping loads I had a very thin foam sleeping mat that inflated a little. That was more comfortable.
Personally I agree with the person who used the futon folding mattress. That would be more comfortable than any kind of camp bed or cheap sofa bed, even if not part of a proper futon.0 -

You will think I am just saying this now, but I did think you were late twenties/early thirties - I think it's the name belle! It makes me think of the Disney character in Beauty and the Beast and she is a gorgeous young thing! :rotfl:0 -
Marvellous, I just need to make sure I never meet you in person:rotfl:.You will think I am just saying this now, but I did think you were late twenties/early thirties - I think it's the name belle! Mind you, I've never heard of the character you describe but she sounds a tinsy winsy bit completely and utterly unlike me. I've long wished I could change my user name but when you've built up a large post count etc and people 'know you' it's hard to jump ship.
There a nice old train carriage called 'the Brighton belle'...I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0
