Well unless someone else can offer me a super deal it looks like I will be trying out Plusnet. Just hope they perform better than they did for my mate who was without full service for 5 months.

But at least their call centre is in the UK, unlike my experiences of BT

But PlusNet are part of BT. Was it a service problem with them, or customer service?

As I mentioned previously, don't expect any faster broadband with any other company than you will get with BT. As it is the network that restricts the speed.

But BT have very much a hands off approach with Plusnet.

That's why I asked if the problem was service or customer service. If it was the broadband service, then this will probably be no different under PlusNet.

    Both service and customer service.

If thats correct can you tell me why i no one in my road gets more than 1.5 meg with BT but at least 2.5 with everyone else? I have an impressive 4 meg with O2. Anyway its not rellevant as id be taking in fibre and not standard bb as films take forever to download even at 4 meg!

So the chances are that they all use the BT network anyway. So the service could be just as bad. So if I were you I would just go for the best deal.

Well I'm hoping I will get more than 4 meg on fibre regardless of the provider. Definately going to start looking around this week, probably going to choose either Sky or Plusnet, just depends on who offers me the best deal.

Last night I contacted O2 to enquire about any early termination charges as it may be worth while paying a few quid if Im going to get a deal that saves me a lot more in the long-term. They said no charges, just have to pay for what I used up to date my service changes. If I go with Sky I don't need to request a MAC code, but I do for anyone else.

Funny thing is this morning I come to do some work only to find my broadband speeds are a fraction of what they have been the past 4 years. Might just be a glitch but I'm sure someone else mentioned their O2 speeds reduced dramatically out of the blue.
