Services Available in Area

Options
I remember a while ago there was a website where you could pop in your telephone number or post code and it brought up a list of all the broadband providers that service your location. Try as I might I cannot find it. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Last time I checked it was only O2, Sky or BT that could supply me with a service but I want to check if anything has changed because I really don't fancy BT or Sky having had rubbish experience with BT and total lack of CS from Sky.

Thanks

Additionally you can use any BT reseller you wish (non-LLU): samknows doesn't list these, as they're available on all exchanges.
Plusnet is the best known, but there are dozens of others.

Thats great, thanks for your help.

Be interesting to see who is available because when i called Plusnet last year they said they dont cover my area but a search for cheap deals brought them up.

Are they really that good given they are owned by BT? My friend had lots of probs but everyone else seems to think they are ok.

Have you tried going on www.virginmedia.com and checking your post code?

If it says that you can only get Virgin National, then it would still be using a BT line anyway, so forget it.

I'm considering getting fibre. Ordinary BB speeds are pretty poor by me, O2 were the best offering at 4.5 meg thats why I stuck with them, but faced with BT @ 1.5 meg or Sky @ 2.5 meg it looks like fibre will be my only option if I want anything near what O2 offered. Its going to cost more but at lest I will be able to download films etc without going to sleep whilst waiting!

I live in a side road and the didnt bother laying any cables here so no Virgin, not even listed for Virgin National.

Plusnet are owned by BT but still run independently. Plusnet is a BT reseller, so you can get it's service on any UK exchange that can give you an ADSL service.

Sky and O2 are probably using BT lines anyway. So none of them will be able to give you more than 1.5mb. I have heard of quite a few cases where different companies exaggerate.

That's strange, because Virgin National is for areas that Virgin's cable network doesn't cover. So they will also use a BT line.
