I definately get 4 - 4.5 from O2 depending on the time of day but only ever got 1.5 from BT. I believe BT were running at full capacity (so their engineer told me when he came to fix my phone line) hence the reason why their speeds were slower than everyone elses.
Nope definately no Virgin connect in my area, they told me they dont cover everywhere. Anyway their CS is dreadful so a definate no no0 -

So you already have BT and O2?0 -
I was with BT for phone & bb but then transferred to O2 a couple of years ago because I had major problems with BT.
My neighbours tell me nothing has changed, their service is actually getting worse. Do wonder if they are slowing it down deliberately so they can sell their newly installed fibre?0 -

Well I don't know how that is happening. If O2 are only giving 4 to 4.5mb, then they are still using BT's network by piggybacking it. This means that BT will give the same speed as any other company that piggybacks it's network.
If you had said that O2 were giving 20mb, then I would say that they had installed their own network.0 -

plusnet can offer fttc same as bt (bt own plusnet)
Why not look at these other suppliers in this link http://www.robertos.me.uk/html/isps_offering_fttc.html input your number and see what is available0 -
If i want fibre looks like i can choose from BT, Sky or plusnet. Think i will see what plusnet have to offer.0

Just bear in mind Plusnet call centers (and technical support), are all based up in Sheffield. :-)
Been with Plusnet for about 3years now (fttc service since the end of December), and can not recommend them more.0 -

Well unless someone else can offer me a super deal it looks like I will be trying out Plusnet. Just hope they perform better than they did for my mate who was without full service for 5 months.
But at least their call centre is in the UK, unlike my experiences of BT0
