The AlanD thread was a result of two other threads he was tring to defend wich led to pesonal attack on him if they had been moderated before they got out of hand the Aland thread may never have been started

I'm trying to think of a way to explain myself without coming across wrong but if you seriously cannot see why deleting (read as: sweeping under the carpet the nastier side of this board) would cause more problems that it'd solve then I can't explain it any better.

People should use caution, common sense and care on the internet in general and that applies here. It is not down to Martin or anyone else to patrol and police. We are all adults. I don't want a nanny board and if BCSC became like that, it's not a place that I'd personally choose to be.

I've been around enough to know when I say that deleting is never a good idea. I'm all for extra mods and extra attention to step in if things get heated or personally, as I said locking is a good middle-ground.

Locking it would cause the 'why was that post locked threads' and it all starts again. Get rid of it quickly, if it stays 5 minutes very few people read it and much less harm is done. Leaving it there encourages more people to offer an opinion on the original thread and it's always there for the victims to see.
Well it's not as easy as that. It all depends on who sees it and when, who has replied, who wants an explaination, who decides that they'll start it up again and again and again every time it's deleted. Both options - deleting and locking would create problems in themselves, I just have a personal preference for locking. The lesser of two evils.

I'm not ganging up on bakey either, this is the perfect example of how debates can be a healthy part of these boards. Just because Bakey and I have a different opinion doesn't mean I have any less respect for her or feel the need to start with personal attacks. Her views are as valid as mine... even though I'm right and she's wrong :D (sorry just kidding; couldn't resist)

Don't think that money or lack of it is the only reason people feel suicidal.

I would love to have someone around 24hrs a day to delete troll posts from the whole forum. The only way to do this is to employ people to do it, and it would probably cost too much. I don't think 'difference of opinion' posts should be deleted though, just in case they offend. An opinion is just that - an opinion.

BTW I don't want people to think I don't know what I'm talking about - our debt was almost 3 times our income at one point and we were considering bankrupcy :)

You're not going to get somebody "leaping off a cliff" just because they've been criticised for using the wrong batter mix.

    Very true :D

But it was hardly the wrong batter mix. This person was jumped on for her whole lifestyle. If she was the slightest bit sensitive, it could have really affected her.

I think I might be shifting to sit in Vixen's camp from last night...When I said she was being a little harsh, now I actually think she was spot on.

    Bakey,

You and Foxy were at each other's throats last night

I agree with letting people battle it out; personally, I love it.

The problem, and it's a huge bigger than anything else problem, is that you're going to frighten genuinely distraught people away from this forum in the name of "free speech".

Bakey, please you must see that; what's the benefit in allowing us to enjoy a good old "digit" war with a buch of "numptys" while a mother, father, brother sister, son, daughter disappears and take their own life.

I've really got to disagree Bakey; there's got to be more moderation.
