  • Oh gosh, *only in London* is so right! Hence why we moved out ;) However Essex isn't far enough away so I need to move again to get out further :p:rotfl:.

Get DH to do some positive affirmations each morning "I now create the perfect job opportunity for myself", or "everything is in divine and perfect order" you get the drift ;) something positive and I always do these before going off for an interview/doing something i'm nervous about. It works :)

Yay to kitty! I wish I weren't allergic as we have lots of things round here that cats could be chasing away :rotfl:

  • Well, Hello everyone - this is me creeping back in after avoiding this site because I didn't have anything to update anyone with!!!!

No debt busting, trying to do as many spend free days as possible but not necessarily being as frugal as i had hoped, feeling a bit down in the dumps and generally lethargic (January blues!!!) and (thankfully) enjoying spending time with little kitty.

    But I'm back to say:

    Hubby has a JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :j:j:j:j:j:j

He was offered the position yesterday and he accepted it so he should (all things going to plan) start on Monday and the debt busting can resume in February!!!!!! :j:j:j:j:j:j

So lots of paperwork and planning to come to work out what will be tackled first and F&Fs will be printed off and posted to get them rolling for us to re-commence negotiations on them and BOOM we are going to hit this and have it waaaay below 5k debt by May!!!!!!!

So watch out - the 9 grand in 6 months challenge is soon going to splutter into life like a dodgy 20-year old diesel engine!!!

    Keep on trucking! :D:D:D

PS - does anyone know if there is a way to change the title of the thread - is that possible?

  • OK - so, getting back into the debt-busting I have drafted a few F&F letters ready to send off next week recorded delivery so we are in full swing come OH's first paycheck at the end of February.

Phoned the bank in the hopes of setting up something where my overdraft reduces each month but they can't set that up so I'll have to do it 'manually' so to speak!!

Things will be tight for the next few weeks before that first paycheck comes in but belt has been pulled tight and we have lots of pasta and canned tomatoes so we might have a 'preppers' month of eating from the cupboards! Little kitty has lots of wet food so all he might need is dry food and litter and we will need some fresh veg and eggs/milk/cheese along the way.

Veyr excited to restart the debt-busting - the number has been sat on the 13 thousands for too long now :( so can't wait to see it droooooooooooop down to nothing! Then we can start SAVING to move out of London and start living the dream!!!

So renewed aims for the Spring 2014::
    • Pay off remaining 13k debt within 6-7 months
    • use F&Fs on defaulted debts to settle them
    • keep spending to the minimum so extra can be thrown at debts - stop the takeaway craze!!!!
    • reduce limits on credit cards and cancel others (once all limits are at 0)
    • bulk buy food/supplies where possible
    • bulk cook to reduce waste
    • reduce overdraft at a manageable rate and keep reducing it til it is at 200 quid (currently at 2000 )
    • put money aside where possible for moving/unexpected expenses such as gas/electric

Phew! It's a lot but I've been lazy without the debt-busting drive and hopefully this will kick me back into gear!!! :D

Now to get off my bottom and put the washing on that's been waiting since 2 this afternoon to be washed!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

  • Hi CR, just checking in and your diary has been very quiet? Hope you are ok.

  • Hi CR, just checking in and your diary has been very quiet? Hope you are ok.

    hello WABL! :hello::hello:

it has gone quiet as there is really very little to report!!! just plodding along with the day to day!

OH has been going well in his new job - it's a bit more techie than the last one but it keeps him busy and he's going to stick with it! Which is great to hear!!!! :D:D

little kitty has been settling in - i fear we might spoil him a bit!! :o took him to the vets for a checkup (so there were no nasty surprises) and he said he was v healthy (maybe a teensy bit overweight!!) and he did the checkup for free!!!!! :j:j:j but the OH did get a taxi to and from the vet which was 26 quid so it offsets the free checkup!

just waiting - 20 days and then the 6 month challenge starts!

hope everyone else is ok? I fear my diary isn't very inspiring at the moment!!!

    hugs
    xx

  • That's great that the OH is settling into his new job, it must be such a relief! Roll on the six month challenge :)

  • Hey WABL! it is a relief although I can see him slowly slipping into bad habits 'needing' a drink after work or 3 every night, and taking a day off 'sick' - i've got to watch him very carefully.

The funny thing is that he is now 100% behind getting rid of our debts as fast as possible and not putting income in jeopardy and then he does that?!!! crazy!!!!!!

Anyway - we're slowly winding the gears back up - full and finals posted today so fingers crossed, also called and closed the vanquis account, rang up for old statements (again) to go to war with wong&.

Oh yes - it is sad to say but i am actually getting excited - we have it planned -

end of the month: pay off 2 credit cards (small limits) and also try and close a default via full and final.

eek - why can't it be the end of the month already?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OK - I'm gearing up to kick those debts down:

    8 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8 days to go and then I can smash the debts down and it will be full steam ahead with getting debt free by - realistically - August - which was our original aim last year (considering the initial DFD was December 2014 if we can do it in August we're still laughing!!!)

My signature has been updated and I am getting so fidgety and restless! Haha!!

I don't know what to do with myself while I'm waiting!!

    Oh yes - I know...........
    1. Don't spend any money ;)
    2. check how much my new balance is (interest and a few small payments have changed the total recently)
    3. write some more f&f letters
    4. run some 'models' in my debt management app to see how much can be knocked off each month in different ways!!!!!!!!!!!

    It's like waiting for C*****mas Day!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D
