That sounds like a lovely, in-tune evening C-R. I hope Mr C-R got some positive feedback from the recruitment agencies. I am sure this situation will turn itself around soon and you will be able to see the silver lining. xx

  • thank you HOK3Y!!

well - he's a naughty man because he didn't actually ring them but I am keeping on at him and we are prepping his CV this weekend so next week the feelers should be going out there!!!!

And I know it's all been a bit doom and gloom recently with OH's impending job loss and having to put the debt-busting on hold - apologies for the boring posts to come all about job seeking and not being able to see those massive numbers decreasing!! - but...... just checked my noddle account and the default on my account which we settled with a F&F has now been marked as settled with a zero balance! yay!!! :j:j:j:j:j:j:j It is still registered on experian but maybe they just haven't updated yet? I hope that's the case!!!

And the OH's credit score (i know they don't count for anything) has jumped from poor to very good (around 800) in 1 MONTH!!! because of his credit cards being paid off all finally! wowee! :D:D:D

Still need to call about the other F&F they haven't removed from his file but just goes to show it's all still going on behind the scenes!!!

hope everyone is having a good day?
I'm doing some overtime this evening - ugh! - just got to think of the money, think of the money!!!! :money::money:

  • Well hello everyone! It's Saturday!!!!! The OH got paid so the amount that would usually go on debt has been hidden away! And we picked up his suits and it's great-they are all washed and ready to go! Yay!!!! :j

Did some admin this morning and called up one DCA for their letter confirming the full and final and they're sending it, called another and they agreed to settle the default so long as we scan the confirmation letter and send it on Monday! Whoop!! And finally called up the OH's old bank and got them to send us the statements we need to go to war with wong8 to fight the default for two accounts and get it down to one-they won't know what has hit them! Mwahahaha!!!! You don't want to battle with the retreatist massive!!! :j:j:j :D:D

We also found some paperwork from when we started on the debt-busting battle and back then we had set a target of 16 grand debts left over by Xmas-it's now at just over 14k so we DID beat that particular target so I am a bit happy!!!!

Despite the doom and gloom of jobs I'm feeling particularly optimistic this morning!!!! Yay for positivity!!!! :D:D

Now off to tidy this hovel-got my rock star guava drink in tow----mmmm, let's make that energy drink worth it's money!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Wishing everyone a wonderful Saturday full of joy

  • Ok-I've also just been sorting out my spreadsheets ready for the new year as we won't be making any big payments this month and from all the up to date outstanding balances the current grand total at the end of December 2013 is:

    £13,777.15

Yay! So even though the target was on hold we've still done pretty well this year and it bodes well for making sure when we are on a sure footing we can beat the last of this budget! :j:j:j

Next year I'm planning to do the frugal living challenge 2014 as we'll and I'm going to follow frugaldom's lead and set us a year target-I need to do some research but the aim at the moment is for the budget to be somewhere around 4500 for the year which I expect to be generous!!!!!

In the future the aim will be to save up this amount before the end of the year and then use this as the ONLY money touched thought the year so all salary not spent on bills/rent goes straight into savings and there is no temptation!!!! That would be so cool!!!!! that will be the aim for 2015 eh?!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: can't get too ahead of myself!!!!

  • well - it's OH's last day at work tomorrow :(
nothing going now for the foreseeable future on debt-busting no matter how frustrating that might be for us.

Other than that - just trying not to spend money and trying not to get depressed! It's going to be a great Christmas! haha!

hope everyone is feeling more of the Christmas spirit than I am?

  • On holiday! Yay!!!!!!!! :j

Staying with the in-laws and loving getting out of the capital for the season! Treated ourselves to some fancy chocolates today-oh ambassador you are spoiling us!!!!! :):) but it's Christmas and we've cleared a good amount this year even though we're on hold we need to be able to treat ourselves especially with the future being uncertain!

So blow it-it's Christmas and I am going to Enjoy myself-carols on, wine in hand, chocs close by-I'm going to forget about everything for a week and just enjoy the good times (the non-spending good times!)

And whatever happens 2014 is the year the retreatist clan becomes debt free!!!! YES WE CAN!!!!! :j :j

Still got to get OH something small as a present but not sure what! Oooops!!!!!!! :)

Hiya C-R, we're on holiday too and finally feeling a little of the holiday spirit as well. I also have the wine cracked open and have loosened the purse strings a little because, as you say, it's Christmas and we have both come so far this year. You are right, 2014 is going to be a great year: debt free and your hubby will have a new job soon....I know it!

Hope you both have a fabulous Christmas!!!
