Thank you HOk3Y!!!! and a very happy new year to you and hubs and DS too!
Well - this should be the reflective post - thinking back over the last year and the roller-coaster ride that was 2013 - the highs, the lows etc etc. But I'm done with that! 2014 is the year of not just looking but moving FORWARD!!! Deeds are done, mistakes are made and fate deals us a hand that we must play even if we don't like it. But we can't change the past whereas the future is an open book full of those crisp, white blank pages just waiting to be filled!!! And I have my trendy fountain pen (read: work biro) poised and ready to go.
I know - there will be blotches of ink here and there and there will be crossings out and mistakes made but isn't that just how things are?
So - forwards dear DFW friends and let's face 2014 ready and with a new, renewed sense that ANYTHING is possible if we just put our minds to it. For me my goal is to clear all my rest of my 13k debt with 9 grand or less using full and final offers.
My aim is to achieve this goal in 6 MONTHS!!:eek:
So welcome to the new world of C-R's:
9 Grand in 6 Month Challenge
This challenge is due to start imminently, as soon as 2 incomes are back up and running which I hope will be in a few weeks and then woweee watch those numbers fall!!!! :j
I have joined NSK's January Challenge and I will spend this weekend planning for the 2014 Frugal Living Challenge (tricky at the moment with not knowing wage numbers etc) and not just clear my funds but change completely my approach to money.
So bear with me people and wishing you all the Happiest of New Years
Hugs

Hiya C-R! LOVE the post and the analogy - lovely! You are definitely writing your future and it's shaping up to be a hell of a chapter in 2014!
Can't wait to see what the year has in store for you and your hubby.
Wishing you all the very best for the new year. xCredit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -
Thank you Hoks and WABL!!!!!
Welcome back to my ramblings for the New Year!!!
I certainly hope the OH gets a job soon too!!! :rotfl::rotfl:
Well - I have started the year frugally (as I mean to go on) and purchased the ONLY food shop I hope to do this month for 50 quid (inc tabac for OH) from Tescimos!! Granted we may need a few fruit and veg bits and bobs here and there but going to take out some cash next week and use ONLY that for any further spends this month. So - lots of cooking this weekend. On the cards currently are the old favourites:- butternut squash vege lasagne
- meaty lasagne (got 300g meat and going to bulk out with veg)
We have enough cleaning products and store-cupboard essentials to last us, realistically, for a good 3-4 months with some probably lasting up to 6 months so it will be great to track exactly when these stores dry out and calculating their cost per year and maybe I can start buying yearly supplies! Mwahahahaha!
I would love to buy some clothes but I've stuck with this wardrobe for a year already - I can cope with it for another 6 -12 months so long as I sew up the holes  So ZERO spending on that front.
OH has agreed to the dry January so no alcohol spending so the only extra expense is his tobacco but he wants to quit so fingers crossed he does it (and soon) to save us some money!!
Apart from that the essential debts have been paid so far this month and we have just enough to cover all utilities. Yay!!!! Although I was naughty and trapped myself as I kept my payments higher than the minimum cause I was so desperate to repay something this month after December!!! Hope it doesn't come back to burn me! Roll on the 12k debt level!!!!! :j:j:j
Hope you're all having a good day? Gosh - going back to work after time off really does make you think how draining work is doesn't it?!!!!:p

You sound positive and ready to kick @$$ this year C-R! I hope there is some amazing news on the job front for your OH really soon. In the meantime, can you get him working on surveys or something while he's at home?? I had mine running radio loyalty while he was home yesterday through my clixsense account......I saw no reason why we shouldn't pull in some more pennies while he was here!

Oh my word!! I am soooooo jealous!!!! I would love to have a cat again but we're not allowed here. Oh how absolutely lovely for you. I am sure you two will be the firmest of friends in no time. I love kitties so much. Man, I'm going to be green with envy all day!
Sorry to hear about OH's dad - perhaps the time your hubby is having with his father now is the silver lining to the job loss.
