6 grand in 6 months - my personal challenge!

  • thanks HOK3Y!!!

I've just been looking at dream houses and think I've found one or two that we'd want to live in - have as a project when we leave London:

    http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-23335794.html

    http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-41814092.html

Those of the types of properties we're looking at but I'm sure you noticed the prices on them!!!!! So realistically we won't have a chance in hell with mortgages for what minimum 3 years? If, after we're debt free we have no missed payments for 2 years we might be able to start looking! If we'd be interested in properties (at this time) with values of top 200k we'd need a good 20% deposit I say with our history so let's make this fun!!!!

I'm 28 next April. If we can aim to be debt free within 2 months of my birthday we can use that as a measure and say by the time I'm 30 I want to have 40k savings - I want to buy a house when I'm 31 with 60k in the bank!!!! That would make the OH 40!!!!

Au pair may have to go but my nan is fighting fit so we'll bring her along in the granny annex!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: free childcare/pensioner labour!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Discounting any potential offspring this is my aim! :j
    April 2017 - No debts + 60k!!!!!

I always thought 7 was my lucky number but with all these sixes and multiples of 6 flying around maybe I should consider changing?

Hampers ... Last year for xmas, i made up two hampers for couples ... With bird things .. Feeders, birdseed, peanuts and fatballs etc . They still comment on how much they enjoy watching the birds use the feeders in the gardens .

    Just a thought ?

Oh that's brilliant - love that idea!

Just looked at the links C-R and those are beautiful houses. So much character to them. You can do it - just aim for it and go for it with every bit of energy you have! :)

oh Mara! That's a lovely thought and they are quite simple to make aren't they fatballs? I think I might do a mini gardening theme for OH's parents' hamper - problem is they have a lot of birds already so don't know if they want to encourage them?!! But maybe seeds, and some gardeners hand scrub and some heavy duty gardening gloves?

HOK3Y - they are lovely -wish I had the deposit saved now!! - got the OH on board with the house though - just need to keep the motivation up!!!! Only a few years!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I suppose once we get to that point we'll have to see how to do the savings - no one recommends a joint pot - just in case!

  • Hello CR!

Just wanted to pop on and let you know I'm subscribing :)

I was a forum member for quite a number of years, but feel like I need a fresh start and your diary inspired me to come back with a new account.

I'm back on the debtbusting wagon, luckily my debt hasn't increased but it's not gone down either due to a massive change in circumstances (for the better this time!)

Love doing hampers for Christmas, tend to do pamper ones, movie night ones, ones for readers etc but I saw "Pots of Gold" on another thread which I might just do for everyone this year, will dig out the link in a bit.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello. I'm busy trying to make as much use of the 200 free listings on ebay today, de-cluttering and earning at the same time
  • Hi CR...its your OH's payday tomorrow isn't it?...I can feel the excitement of a few overpayments building :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Credit card £4461.15Home mortgage £137117Buy to let mortgage £83,000
  • eeeek! it's true WABL! the tingling excitement (from me at least) is palpable!!!

OH - still a no on the DCA but tomorrow he is going to be tied down and the phone held to his ear because goddamn I wanna get rid of it!!!!!!! aaaargh!!! You can see how easy it was with him to get into debt in the first place!!!!!!

DebtBuster2013 - thank you so much! :grouphug:
it's funny to hear how my struggles have inspired others but I wish you the best of luck to finally bash down the debt and beat it once and for all! Will you be starting a fresh new diary for a fresh approach to busting?

Made a tasty home-made curry tonight - I did it, not the OH this time! Made double portions so the other half will be another night this week.

Meal plan currently looks like this:
Monday - curry & brown rice
Tuesday - fish and small risotto and salad
Wednesday - Spag Bol from the freezer
Thursday - cupboard surprise?!!! we need to use up leeks so something with these probably!
Friday - curry & brown rice

I was hoping to do no more shopping apart from F&F letters for the rest of the week but hey-ho - no washing up liquid!!!! Was trying to work out what I could use instead!!! Shampoo? hand wash? very hot water?!! just lick it clean? :rotfl:

ps - OH is currently begging for a je'fake'an cake!!! so maybe a spending day tomorrow to keep him sweet!!!!!!

  • CR - those houses are amazing! I look at Rightmove everynight before bed. It's a little ritual I have to keep me going on my debtfree journey!

Going to need to step up as I am lagging behind as work has been so busy. Must list some more e@ay bits and try and try and get some money in the bank. THE Ex owes me money and was paying it off monthly, but he's lost his job, so looks like I'll not be getting it this month.
