Not sure how I feel about this

Jeez, if I bought something and it was delivered same day I would be thrilled. You paid for a delivery, does it REALLY matter how the delivery was made??

I would be absolutely THRILLED if that happened to me!

Would save me £3 in petrol going to the sorting office, let alone the repair bill to my car suspension due to all the pot holes along the route!

I don't see the issue. You got a same-day delivery for the price of of goodness-knows-how-long RM would have taken over it. The postage fee you paid pays for the seller's petrol and his time.

Gosh, you're clearly bored with nothing to worry about in your life so have to invent issues where none exist!

I sold some books on Ebay a couple of weeks ago. Theye paid in the Morning so I packaged up the parcel and started to write the address and realised that the guy lived about 20 miles from my house but I packaged it up anyway. Before I got to the postoffice totally by chance my Mum said she needed to visit the town where the guy lived so I drove her and took the books to him, I didn't have a chance to contact him. He was thrilled that I had got them to him so quickly.

Ive seen a fair few on here over the years all agreeing that for various reasons its not ok for someone to call and collect an item when it was not a collection item .
Reasons have included a lot of people dont like the though of strangers knocking their door for safety or people who maybe for whatever reason vulnerable. Never once have i seen an op slated for asking do i have to let them come to my house when that option wasnt stipulated.

But now apparently it is ok for someone thats on the oposite end of the sale [ie: seller instead of buyer] to do this.

Personally this wouldnt bother me too much but i do appreciate that many others would not feel the same.

But a postie would have done exactly the same; just several days later...and if you were out you'd have had to go to the nearest post/sorting office to pick up up yourself.

OP would you have wanted it gold plated with knobs on too?

So using your argument its ok for anyone to come and collect rather than having an item posted? Because if its ok for a seller to deliver then surely its ok for a buyer to collect, right?

Like i stated i wouldnt mind at all but there are vulnerable people out there who for whatever reason wont like it, im sure well all know someone who for whatever reason may not want this to happen[mental illness, vulnerability to name but a few.

If the business seller encourages or allows pickup from their address, they can expect hundreds of visitors per day or per week or however big a business they are. They need facilities to do so. If they work from home or a small office, they may not be able to do this.

The buyer does not have a similar argument.

They do in as much as a seller as you point out can choose and stipulate either way to suit themselves. Then buyers surely have the same right as to who comes to their door.
Like ive pointed out not everyone is the same and tbh im thinking from the viewpoint of someone i do know who would find this situation distressing[i wont go into detail]
