that's what I expected, the offline bit sucks though but let's face it. I will be buying it whatever the conditions.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -

You would have an expensive DVD player.0 -

But what really worries me is what happens when Microsoft decides its time for you to buy Xbox Two? They can deny you access to all games you purchased, turning your console into a breeze block (too big for a brick).
I've had this happen with a few of my xbox 360 games (for online play). They released a new game, old game was switched off. For online play its annoying, but for offline play its unacceptable.0 -

Really?
You think that Microsoft's Xbox 2 won't have the same requirements for online activation?
Worst case scenario is Microsoft go Bust and the servers are shutdown. (So remote Its not even worth worrying about)
What's likely to happen is the Xbox 2 will continue with activation with the same requirements so the same servers will continue to serve Xbox One and Xbox Two.
It's also very easy for Microsoft to flip a switch on your always connected xbox so online activation is no longer required. (like the plans for military personal)0 -

I'm not saying that it isn't technically possible for Microsoft to keep supporting xbox one, but that financially they have motivation to deactivate it.0 -
When my internet was down for three months thanks to a line fault, I was glued to my xbox as I couldn't do any online gaming.
What would I have done if I had the xbox one? Gone outside? Yeah right!
I remember seeing a MS spokesperson saying, "Oh well you can just tether your mobile to your console for it to authenticate!" Will MS pay my data charges then?0 -

Fair enough, let's hope your internet doesn't go down for a few days (or weeks or months) because you won't be playing games either.0 -
