I love sortofok's turn of phrase.

He sounds like Alex in Clockwork Orange, o my readers and only friends. Dost thou him know?

I'd love him to stay providing he is sensitive about not trivialising other peoples' problems, and offers appropriate comments.

I have always enjoyed the differing characters you find on message boards. On several occasions I have encountered someone who arrives in a blaze of glory, making a splash by posting on every conversation, and then shortly after claiming it was all research. Is this name on a screen typing the truth? Who cares? It's only a message board.

    I have alerted studentphil's audience ;)

    Science teacher. Cardiff??

Not Mr Jenkins? He's mad enough :)

We're his audience? Oh that is depressing!

Though SP does seem to have embodied the role of Arms jester so very well.

As for the original topic of this thread, I read the board and was wondering what on earth was going on with you. It's nice to have an explanation.

I haven't been particularly polite to Sortofok on some of the threads he has posted on. I'm not surprised that it put off new forum users who had questions to ask. I think I called him a prat and a w***er, which I still think are fairly accurate terms.

To find each thread hijacked by Sortofok was particularly tedious. I have learnt so much from this forum, and like to contribute too if I think I can help.

I'm still not impressed that he has hijacked this forum for the sole benefit of himself (if the book story is real - I'm not even sure it is.)

Can I kindly suggest that you go and do your research elsewhere? Browsing the forums and posting in a "normal" manner would surely provide enough research for your book without upsetting newbies/antagonising regulars/annoying veterans of this forum.

But thanks for "coming clean" anyway.

    I'm sorry Mel.

Please forgive me if I've upset you.

    I didn't mean to. Honest.

The book is real by the way. And he is a character. And so are you really.
Well, your forum you. If you know what I mean.

Wouldn't you like to have a character based on you?

This is me saying thankyou for helping me Mel and best wishes for the furure.

I haven't seen any of the posts but the poster concerns me.

Sounds like he/she has been deliberately posting misinformation without regard to the affect this has on people - thinking that his own agenda justifies any damage done. "The end justifies the means" is a very shallow argument.

Teacher and writer - not sure which profession is more innappropriate. A writer is trying to influence the readership, a teacher trying to influence impressionable children. Given the morals of the poster I would certainly be concerned about any child of mine being under his influence. I wonder if the board of governors would have an opinion on his suitability.

I also wonder what he would say about his actions if he explained what he had done to his pupils. Would he say this is a suitable way to live your life or should you have more regard for others.

I very much doubt whether this thread is being honest either - sounds a lot like a continuation of the persona. Wonder if this is all a fantasy - doesn't sound like a teacher.
