Western Park is lovely to live in. I walk to town when i go there, it takes about 25 mins from here. Dovelands primary school is wonderful, i can't fault it but New College Secondary school is a worry. It was on the news saying that it is improving but there is no way i'm sending my children to it! The other options are Bosworth Secondary School (there is a school bus which picks the children up but this costs approx £50 per month and travelling distance is approx 20-25 mins) or Fullhurst Secondary school which is ok-ish. Have a look at school results on line.
We have considered moving from Western Park because of the schools but we have decided to take a chance and opt for Fullhurst (however, we are just outside of its catchment area). We will move if our daughter only gets offered a place a new college.
Everyone i have spoken to in my daughters year at school feels the same about New College so pls do your homework about schools before you move. Only a very very small percentage of children go to New College when they leave Dovelands, i think this says it all.0 -

i know leicester's a dump.
and assuming the schools are rubbish too.
all the locals speak with a funny accent, and generally they're all a bit backward (obviously there are a "few" exceptions to the rule)
but i don't know the areas exactly.0 -

Hi there.
I won't comment on any of the houses you've linked to as I think homes are such a personal and individual thing. What suits one won't suit another, but on reading your thread one thought has struck me over and over. Why buy somewhere that means driving through the city centre to get to work? Why not buy somewhere on the Highfields side of town? Sitting in a traffic jam day in day out is going to get very old very fast so why put yourself in that position when you don't have to?0
