    Evening all

Spent £3 on bagels and cholla bread on Sunday, £2.04 in Mr W yesterday and £1.50 in the corner shop yesterday

Got a Mr T delivery come today and the total came to £40.37 + £3 delivery

However, I used a £6 off £40 spend voucher, £12 of call centre vouchers (given to me last time when my £12 off £80 spend didn't apply properly), plus £7.70 of other random money off vouchers when certain items (needed anyway) were bought. A pretty impressive £25.70 free! :T

On top of that there were quite a few extra clubcard points.

£4.99 was on a bottle of wine which I don't include in my grocery budget, so £43.37 was reduced to a total of just £12.68.

For that I got 4 packs of diced turkey breasts, a large pack of chicken thighs, toilet roll, veg oil, crushed chillis, cajun spice, chopped tomatoes, garlic, kitchen foil, shower gel, milk, mangetout and a reduced ready made for one day at work.

Hope everyone has had a good day. Could do with more shops like this! :D

Very impresive savings there, well done to you.

  • I have lurked for such a long time. It was high time I actually signed up for a challenge, so I thought I'd start with the August grocery one. Almost halfway through the month and I'm over 3/4 through my budget!! My budget also includes toiletries/cleaning products/kitchen foil and all of that kind of thing.

Did a good bargain swoop last night though, had some cod, mash and veg ready meals, usually avoid those but they were reduced to 35p each...

This is much harder than I thought!!
September 2014 Grocery Challenge = £160 on target

Was really pleased to see the price of potatos seem to be coming down, yesterday at market I got 2.5kg bag of local new potatoes for 1.00. Really nice and at least half the bag were bigish baking size.

I had to laugh though a woman in front of me told her hubby to put them back because she said they didnt look as if they had been washed, they have haven`t, and for that reason will keep longer.
I had a good giggle remembering the days when your veg came just as it was, no washing or fafing about with, and your lettuce came
    slugs and all. :rotfl:

  • I remember two women talking in the veg shop in much the same way a few years ago. One said to her friend that the carrots were dirty! Her friend told he yes-they are dug out of the ground and laughed t her. I couldn't help but join in for the giggle too!
We had our new dog arrive yesterday and thankfully complete with a full 12 kg bag of food and a bag of treats! I did make a good donation to the rescue centre though so I guess they provided well for her. Her back of food is apparently enough for 3 months! Then I have the nearly full bag my neighbour gave me also! I bought a big plastic dustbin last night to put it all in as I was worried it would get damp. I've left it in the plastic bags and it is now safe in the bin in the garage. I found some small containers to put a weeks supply of food and treats in-I didn't want any of it getting wasted! My dd will have the expense of future dog food-I will buy the pet insurance-that was our "deal" in getting a dog!
I now need to prepare a nice big lunch for my ds tomorrow as it seems I an not giving him enough and he is buying stuff as well as what I provide! I don't want him wasting money that way so I am going to do some pasta or savoury rice or something.
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

I'd like to ask a very important question...WHAT HAS THE OS LIFESTYLE DONE TO MEEEEE??? :rotfl:

A few years ago i would easily spend about £120 a week on feeding myself and my 2 children, and i only managed to keep it that 'low' by denying myself a few treats. :o

Fast Forward to this morning. "Great" I think, "I have been paid and will blow the budget and do a huge shop"...45 mins later i had managed to spend £50.

£50!!! And the last £10 of that took sheer willpower to think what i could stock up on! :D AND it includes £4 delivery charge (was online).

I think this OS/Grocery budget thingy is slightly addictive!!

I have just taken delivery of my online shopping order and now have £50 to last until the 19th as my coffers get replenished on payday on the 20th. Would like to think that should be fairly easy as I have plenty of stocks in, though famous last words, if I do will be really pleased as my usual spend is £332 so a good reduction, which hopefully is just the start.
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!
