NSD today and meal planning is working a treat this week:D. I have started making a list of store cupboard stuff i will need to replenish at some point next month and its not pretty:eek:
One item on it is kitchen roll as I am down to my last half a roll, well I was until I knocked it out of the cupboard and into an oven dish soaking in the sink:mad: I am determined not to get any until my new month starts so will have to make do without it.
DH is watching the football shortly so I am going to double check next weeks meal plan and cost it up to see if I can make any savings anywhere. I also need to find an offer on beans as I hate paying full price for them.
ETA: not a NSD after all as DH has gone for some beers for the footsie at the local n1sa so I have asked him to get some dog food. It's only £1.39 for 3 cans and the dog likes it:)Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Tonight I managed to use up some old eating apples and there's now braised red cabbage and apple stewing very nicely in the oven ready for tomorrow night's dinner, which, thanks to padding out my cottage pie with veg tonight, has given me leftovers for tomorrow night too. I also had the remains of a homemade loaf lurking so made a bread and butter pudding with that, again enough for tomorrow. So an easy day kitchen wise tomorrow.
I've had another productive day listing some handmade little girl's dresses I've made on eBay to try and earn a few more pennies. Because I've either been stuck behind the computer or the stove it's been a NSD here so feeling chuffedx

Haven't posted for a few days..
Was away at weekend so no spends then. But topped up on monday in Al*i and spent £21.80 on loo rolls, chicken, rice and lots of fruit and vegetables. Yesterday was a NSD and today I spent 65p on crisps for my lunch at work then £9.17 at Mr S on catfood, bread, eggs and fruit & veg. Oh and a spend of £2.00 on breakfast from Gr*ggs as had no bread in on monday and had to be in town early and had ages to kill very early in the morning in town!!
Planned for tomorrow are salad sandwich for lunch then I may make butternut squash soup for dinner followed by frittata and salad, but this may change. I think if I have time at the weekend I will try some batch cooking to top up our stock of easy after work meals.Grocery challenge October: £228.28/£250.00 NSD 4 ( not completed)

Do you mean baked beans? Have you got a £land nearby? They usually do hp beans 3 tins for £. Or they have branston beans £1.50 for 4 cans on sainsbobs at mo.

Yes It is baked beans on offer I am looking for. I will have a look in sainsburys as branston are my fave, they were still at £2.50 for 4 last Friday so I will see if they have gone down again.
£1.39 to add for last nights dog food so my total is £210.73 with 7 days including today until pay day. I was hoping to stay under £250 for the month but my Mum and Stepdad are coming up on Saturday (only found out last night) and I like to cook them a decent meal so that my Mum, who is nearly 73 and will be driving an hour and a half each way doesnt have to bother cooking when she gets in. I make her sound old and doddery but she is fitter and healthier than me!
I am planning to make a chicken and leek gratin with new pots and veg followed by a peach and butterscotch upside pudding with custard. Oh and a carrot cake for when they get here. I will need to add chicken, leeks, baking margerine and tinned peaches to my list.
HM GF macaroni and cheese with bacon and peas for tea tonight and fish fingers and saute potatoes and mushy peas for tea tomorrow and that will be the first time I have stuck to the meals on my meal plan ever!Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
