Wanted to make chilli con carne today as its one of my fave to have in the freezer. I put the slow cooker on with kidney beans, tomato and onion. When I came to the meat I had taken out to defrost, it wasnt as I thought mine but diced beef, so chunky chilli con carne for me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • Hello all!
I'm getting married on Saturday (EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!) and then going off on honeymoon for 2.5 weeks so I am abandoning ship for August and will see you all in September... I didn't manage to pay for my August wedding by doing the GC but it's definitely helped.. would have been a lot closer if it wasn't for moving house in June! Still all our debts are safely on 0% credit cards which we should be able to pay off before the 0% runs out.. so all the more need to stick to the GC...

Mrs Cautious - would love to hear how Africa was once you get settled back into your UK routine

WanttobeSE/Flo - I hate thowing things out too.. I am thinking of how to freeze any left-over veg etc from the fridge, if it doesn't get eaten by Saturday.. massive pan of carrot soup in the SC I think!

1head - hope your hand is better soon and Meg72 hope your eye op goes well
Annie99 - I am sure you will find lots of support on here.. hope things are looking up for you soon x

Last of all bluegreen + meg - happy birthday for the weekend :)

Thanks to the people who run this board + to all the posters for all your help and support.. I could be starting married life a lot more disorganised and in debt if it wasn't for the MSE website and forums and particularly this lovely one !!! Bye for now XXX

September Grocery Challenge: I lost track :o/£200
    August Grocery Challenge: £92.11/£100 :)
  • A and C delivery today was £43.23.

I noted a debate about if you include delivery charges in the budget and I have to say we do. Our decision to include it came about as it has to be budgeted somewhere.

Think tonight it will be a pasta dish of some kind.

Been to Morries this morning for top up shop and spent £12.54, brings my total for month so far to £94.88/£250. Am really pleased as I had already slashed my budget by £150 over what I'd been spending over the last 3 months:eek:. It's really helped that I didn't need to buy any wine this month and all 3 freezers are really full so haven't had to buy much meat. Cupboards are also fairly well stocked.

I've meal planned for the month but haven't stuck to it rigidly but in the main have used stuff up from the freezers and cupboards in the hope that one of the freezers will be empty before we go on holiday next month - still not sure I'm going to manage that but will try.

Will be another NSD tomorrow:T which will also help with the challenge.
