Well done meg, that is a great amount of saving!
I am going to go over this month, but I have loads in for next month, and will be under £300 which is £100 less than it has been.
    Done shopping yesterday -
    £30.06 in Ald*
    £18.96 in Te*co
£7 in Pland - but that included a couple of cake tins as well as the usual toiletries and diet coke.
Will need to get milk, some squash and possibly a couple of bits of fruit/veg before my month is up, but hopefully wont need to much else.

£16.82 in Ald* stocked up on mayo, loads of tuna, passata and fruit and veg

£16.74 in Asda on lots of cupboard its, inparticular 3 for £1 on chick peas, and fancy beans. Can now get cracking with a few nice vegie recipes.

Hoping some of this will last part way through August but i am currently at about £30 over budget ; but trying not to get anything but essentials now until 5/8 when new Mr M opens here. Famous last words

Evening all! I fell off the inter-webby world for a little bit there, things have just been sooooo hectic

We closed the June - July challange on 19th July with about £3 spare. How the heck we managed that I don't know, but I'm not complaining

Again, declaring £200 for July/August for us, running 20th July to 19th August.

Very worryingly I spent £95 of that on Saturday just gone :eek:

That covered lots of pet food (but probably not the whole month) and extar cat food of soggy stuff - our old moggy seems to have gone slowly off his food the last few months and is losing weight (he is a naturally skinny cat anyway!) so we've caved in and he's got soggy food as a top up to the biscuit now. Funny really... the soggy stuff disappears in seconds...! So pet food was more expensive, I got in lots of meat (possibly need another top up though before the end of the month) and I took advantage of sleaning offers to top some of that up too. Oh and a whopper bag of broken basmati rice that Mr Shortie spotted when he was shopping last.

Buuuut, we will still need fruit, veg, bread, milk, tins, pasta, squash (that's disappearing at a scary rate in this weather)

That's averaging £35 a weekend (last one if we can stretch it to the Monday instead as that's payday).. Do-able? Should be. Confident? Not entirely... £35 sounds like a lot for (mostly) top up stuff but I know how quickly the money vanishes as I scan my way around the shop - and I'm not even sneaking extras into my bags

But still - I managed to get loads of party food with careful shopping on Saturday for £45 including squashes, plates and cutlery.. only think I couldn't get was el cheapo napkins. It came out of an entirely seperate budget but I was really pleased at managing to get so much food for so little :)

A quick question for you.... these "Save x amount off your next shop" coupons you get at the till with Mr T, do they accept more than one at a time? I have three running out shortly and could do with putting more than one through at a time.

    Thanks x

In my old one they did, but in new one they don't... Weird.

Will you be buying enough to use both vouchers if you split your shopping into two to buy?

Todays plan of main meal went out the window when DH decided we were taking the kids out for the day. Ended up at Pizza Hut (different budget) and made use of a 2 for 1 voucher we were given. Plus my friend was working and we all got free ice cream, so turned out not to be too expensive.

Anyway, i was ment to be going to iceland today to buy milk, potatoes and cheese but i got sidetracked so will make the most of the last bit of milk we have and pop to shops tomorrow instead, making today (amazingly) a NSD! :D

    EDIT::

Scrap that NSD! Had to go to Mr T's for some calpol (tesco brand) for little ones. So got my milk whilst i was there, 2 cartons. Also picked up some mini doughnuts for kids for 30p from YS bit. Also got some YS jacket potatoes. 2 packs at 40p each. Also picked up a bottle of wine for DH. Oopps! I guess he deserves it tho as he has done nearly 39 hours overtime this month and has enjoyed a rare day off :D So spent a total of £9.41p

Not had lap top for a couple of days so couldn't post.
Today have totally gutted one of our sheds, cant believe how much stuff in there and what on earth we kept it for is anyone's guess. Bins are totally full (emptied in the morning) and also have a car load for tip on Friday. Just need to keep it tidy now which is the hard part.
After a few people mentioning roast pork and crackling and getting me drooling I found a small piece in the freezer and we had it tonight with some roast potatoes and salad with fresh peas on it. GORGEOUS.
Shopping tomorrow so now going to make a list and hopefully stick to it.

My GC month ended yesterday, I'm declaring result for July at £274.33/£300 :). Helped a bit by week away on holiday in South Wales during July. We were self-catering and I included my grocery shop while I was there in my total, but we also ate out a few times and I don't include eating out in GC budget.

Had a couple of coupons for Morr*sons on leaflet posted through the door which are useful (£5 off £35 and £3 off £20). Will also get M*rror today for Ald* voucher.

Hope everyone has a good day :).

    Hello:)

My Aug GC starts tomorrow so I am declaring July at £178.23/£180 :j

Although it looks like we've just squeaked in under budget this was due to an AF order to use a free delivery offer which was about to expire. When I applied the voucher code it proved to be fee delivery regardless of weight rather than just the usual £5.25 so I took full advantage and stocked up on really heavy stuff. Got margarine which is great for baking at 17p a tin (454g)' 3.5kg of yorkie mix for 99p and 3kg of chicken stock powder on special at 25p:money:
Also got a load of snacks, goodies and other non essentials for the summer holidays :o
Total spend was £50.10 but I have split this between my July and August budgets.
See you over on August .

    PPXx
Original mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.
Mortgage neutral achieved August 2020 - 7 years early!!!
