Hi All, just sat and looked at my grocery bit and bats and it looks like I'm on a five week month by the time I go August shopping on the 1st so am quite chuffed on the whole will be a bit over and that doesn't include cat food but all else was in there. I didn't set up a spreadsheet and so there are a couple of things that add up to £25 that I cannot remember if I deducted so I may be even better off. These were aldi offers such as a swing ball set. So I am going to set up my own spreadsheet before August so i can keep track in detail. Thanks to all of you you have been a great support and had some inspirational ideas.

A spend of £13.22p yesterday at Mr T's. Managed to get some YS bread. WW bread for 19p and large farmhouse loaf that is usually £1.50p for 30p. I was gonna pop to iceland today for bread as I ususally get 2 loafs for £1.50 there but now i don't need to so could very well be a NSD for me today. Also got milk, sausage rolls and pork pies (DH packed lunch food), bottle of pepsi, some ham and toilet rolls. They were all on the list.

Not on the list i bought some big tubs of mini cheddars and mini twiglets. I think they were ment to be £2.45 and they were selling them off for 50p! So got 2 tubs of cheddars for the kids for now for snacks, and put 2 tubs and cheddars and 2 tubs of twiglets away for holiday to share out around the BBQ with friends (we all bring stuff to contribute). I thought they were a total bargain! :D

Deffo gonna come under budget so still considering if i should order some stuff from Approved Foods but still not sure if its worth it or not?? Any opinions from people on here??

Sorry am not sure what you are asking here re if its worth it or not.
AP have some real bargains, so yes its worth it but its only worth it if you are going to use it.

    That's it...I'm over!

    Spent

£4.70 on a big bottle of Soy sauce and a big bottle of rice wine from the Chinese supermarket
    £1.10 in Mr S
    £2.30 in Mr S
    £1.30 in Mr S
    £2.80 in Mr S

    = £12.20 in total

On the plus side, like others, I've still got plenty of stocks in because the weather is too hot to cook. On the negative side, the reason I'm over is because I've been overindulging on salads!

Oh well - onwards and upwards!

Hello -- hope you are all well.. can't believe it's nearly Aug already!

just after some advice again! Is there a particular time you find it good to go to sainsbury's for YS bargains? I know especially MrsCautious you seem to go there a lot.. am sure there has been some discussion about best times to go but I can't find the conversation although I've looked..

Anyway the reason for asking is that I have a voucher for money off and about 99% of my spend is going to be booze for a family party at the weekend (MIL and FIL paying so not coming from our budget) .. but thought I may as well get some bargains for myself while I'm in too...

In other news I did my weekly shop at the new tesco extra that has just opened near(ish) to me.. It is lovely and all the value ranges are easy to find if you make sure you look.. but I don't think I'll be going back.. I was in there over an hour wandering round!! I love aldi + lidl for the fact that they are small + you get in + out within 10-15 mins.. and less possibility for deviating from the list. The cost of my shopping wasn't too bad but still feel like I'd have got more for my money elsewhere ... I did manage to find beans / tomatoes at the same price as the everyday value range hiding away in the "world foods" aisle though - a lot more interesting choice as well. I think I will venture back there for spices / exciting food like what that NickJW cooks ;) but not for my normal shop !

Haha! Last nights meal was a Scotch egg with beetroot and rocket salad! There's a reason why I haven't been posting my meal plans recently! :rotfl:

Have update my sig to reflect, but got 12 breadrolls for 30p safely stashed in freezer, 4 yumyums for 15p, sour cream for 55p, and some fish goujons for £1, as well as some non ys stuff that hopped into my basket (a magazine and a piece of honey glazed pork which looks yummy)

It really does depend on your own particular store for when to get the best reductions and it seems to be that you just go at different times to find this.

NickJW - I don't think we should be too hard on ourselves for going over due to the hot weather. I'm hoping to rebalance things in August as we'll be using the stocks left from this month.

Spent £1.39 on milk earlier, sig updated.
