Spent £48.87 in Aldi yesterday - using the £5 off voucher of course! Stocked up on tinned and cupboard stocks for the month plus packed lunch stuff for next week. Also spent £21.88 in morrisons on diet coke cans to go with my pack lunches for the month (£2.10. For 8) and clover lighter which is on bogof. Sounds alot but if I don't buy the cans I'll only go and pay 70p a can at work and the clover is the only low fat spread I can get the OH to eat!
So already £70.75/£200 for the month. On the plus side tho should only need meat for OH and fresh stuff here on in.July GC = £124.45 / £2000 -

We do what you're doing and try and live on DH's money for all our living expenses, so fuel, food, entertaining, credit cards and save anything left for holiday. My salary pays the bills and debts. I think it's working better than when it was all in together.
My DH is out of control this month. A long-standing plan is just coming together and instead of waiting he has bought a motorcycle before the money is in! It makes my economising feel completely futile.

Thanks suffolklass, redundancy was the reason for paying off the mortgage ! OH was getting very stressed at work and I wanted to take some pressure off him.
Sympathies with your OH, i suppose i should be grateful mine doesnt go for big purchases ! Ill let you all know at the end of the month how living on one salary is!Grocery Challenge Feb 16 £346 /4000 -
reporting a spend of £8.78 on junk effectively ... no meal, no nutrients, just rubbish! Never letting DH out for milk ever EVER again! not a happy bunny! It may not seem like alot but when you've not got it to spare, well, I just wish he would see that!
I share your pain !!Grocery Challenge Feb 16 £346 /4000 -
Sig updated - spend of £9 in Waitrose yesterday . Not the most frugal place to shop but I had to go in anyway so the petrol saved and convenience was worth it. Only bought some flour, lentils, milk, lettuce and I got some reduced cherries and some reduced mixed leaves. My use it up challenge is going well, main things I am missing are salad and herbs - need to get the herb bed going as I have been saying for months. Slicing through weeds with a sharp spade is a good idea today - I shall be imagining the weeds are various people at work I think!Grocery Challenge (2 adults 2 kids)

Hi  i'm a newbie to all this but would love to join you this month. Actually, after reading through the thread i think it's more a case of NEEDING to join you as i'm spending roughly between £800 and £900 a month *hangs head in shame*
If anybody has any tips i'd be extremely grateful

I binned all my receipts that were floating in my bag the other day so that put paid to any hope of finding out how much I've been spending in June on groceries. In May, as soon as I spent something, I put it in my diary but June, I just never got going.
I'm not sure how I will get on this month. I'm planning on having some time off work so meals out etc and out of routine.
I don't seem to be very organised at the moment. I'm still wasting food. I have ham that I bought that went out of date yesterday that I haven't touched. I'm sure this will be ok but I convince myself that its gone off !! I'm having a massive house tidy up today so once thats done, I'm hoping to feel a bit more organised and intend to meal plan.0 -

Hi everyone,
Budgets done to here
Welcome to:
Talk, unicornft and raggy doll (do you want to set a budget raggy?)
Popped into Co-op yesterday en route to the hairdressers. Got bogof naan bread, ys pork shoulder joint and 2 packs of higher welfare chicken breast. Total of £14. Then Pound!and today £10 on drinks and packed lunch bits.
Total now stands at £65.90/£450.
May not now have a roast tomorrow as planning a day out to Canterbury with the children. Don't feel like we've had a day out all together for months and as it's meant to be a nice day, thought we'd seize the moment! DS1 (14) may not share our enthusiasm I feel!
Have a good day everyone.
