bang goes my budget this mth...
nevermind there is always july's...:rotfl:0 -
After a big shop yesterday I can't see me going shopping again now before the end of the month (I expect to get paid Thursday!) So I've come in at about £5 under budget. :T I'm pleased with myself as this has been my first month on the challenge and I haven't really tried that hard. Down to £140 for next month, there are 2 of us and cat. OH does buy some of the groceries, and thats separate from my budget.ilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away0

I put in about half a cup of vinegar to just descale. My clothes do not smell of vinegar at all but I find they are not as soft as using conditioner so I now just buy the really cheap stuff and use vinegar instead at least once a week to keep machine in good conditioner. I put it on 50 wash and will do that once a month. I used to do this with tablets but trying to save money0 -
It was all going so well. I must keep out of shops, especially pet shops, can't seem to resist spoiling the dogs!
Talking of treats, I really fancied sardines on toast for tea, so went and bought a tin of sardines "£1.25". I'll have to cook 'em gourmet style!!!!!!0 -
Ok budget blown big time this month budgetted £300 spent, I'm not going to even total it but it's probably about £400
Mind you I have got a months supply of meat in the freezer and the storecupboard is full
I have realised my failing at tesco's is going up the homeware & special offer aisle so I made a deal with DH that anything I buy in those aisles I have to buy, with my money and seperate from the groceries. That should stop me :rotfl:
Ah well I will return in July still with £300 budget and see if I can do it :rolleyes:MFiT Member No 85

If I spend over £48.70 this week I shall be extremely annoyed with myself. My month ends next Sunday. Wish I could send the children to the shop instead of going myself, then wouldn't be as tempted. Don't even suggest sending my partner, he either comes back with wrong things or spends too much so I gave up that a long time ago (yes I think he does it deliberately) I'm going to put the amount in cash in my smaller purse and leave the other at home when I got to the shops when possible.
Freezers are full, have spuds, will need some more fruit and a couple of veg things, there is enough dog food for the week and about £40 worth of treats adding in the ones I ordered off ebayNeed toilet roll but I think I have everything else. Right must do shopping list if I go and stick to it!!!
One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
I am still within target atm. When I started this challenge, (my first), I budgeted for the June - 1st til 30th. Because DH is paid on the 20th, next month I'm going to go from 20th June - 20th July. I'm confusing myself at the moment!
I thought of trying to adapt this month but then I am making work for myself counting bills from the end of May and I just cannot be a***d doing that. Also don't want to change rules for myself - I know it's only me thats going to notice, but that's not the point!
Anyway, I feel better for that. Now that I've typed and read it back I think I understand where I'm coming from (oh dear!).
Just £12 away from full budget. Going to have to do big shop next Sat (30th) as have family do and providing grub, booze etc. Think I'll make loads of sarnies with bread from new breadmaker - maybe pizza too! Try and keep spending down to a minimum.
Feel better as I'm going in the right direction but still long way to go!
Nova x
Note: sorry about the waffling0 -
Sounds like you are doing well Nova!
I have one more shop to do (next weds) and will be slightly over budget. But considering what I used to spend I'm doing ok!
I've just been through storecupboard and freezer checking dates - will work my next weeks menu around the list of things that need using up.
I threw out a tin of fruit cocktail (bb date April 2003:eek:) and a packet of noodles (Jan 2006:eek:) but I suppose thats not too bad considering this is the first time I checked dates ever!!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

when does July one start, im getting muddles up cos all my dates run different:
in times before OS my shopping day was Friday when I went with Mum and paid cash, then I got cash back card so statement comes mid month (and includes petrol on it) . I also get paid 4 weekly so the date changes every month. and WTC etc pd on Tuesdays
Am I making this hard work or is it just early !!!!
Thanks0 -
Hi Tracey04, I get paid 4 weekly too, so I just do a weekly budget. At the End of the month you can tot it up, you will eventually see the monthly total. it,s up to you when your month starts and ends, do it to suit yourself, Good luck:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o
