I spent another £8 today on top of my target. What I've got in will definitely see me to the 30th and a bit beyond. Two days next week I'm freeloading on someone else's holiday but I'd been commissioned to take some nice HM bread and some treats (also HM) for us all hence the extra shopping today. Oh and a huge bar of Dairy Milk fell into my basket...

I'm still within the extra Tenner buffer zone that I secretly allowed myself and didn't tell any of you about.. Oh, OK, I went over budget.

It's taken me a couple of months to find a way that suits my grocery budgeting but I've managed in that time to build up a good store cupboard and I'd say 90% of meals are made from scratch now, up from about 40%. The downside is I'm eating more and getting a little overweight. Win some lose some!

I did used to have a seperate budget for animals and us but put them both together when I started on here, aswell as the lixard who has his live food and a small share of the veg, taking on another dog this week (making 3) who is big has kind of been an extra aswell I suppose, it's the treats I am bad for, must kerb it a little as it's also taking up a big bin for the food and a cupboard packed full of treats :o but they are all my babies.

I know what you mean about treats. Bought my piggies some seed thing yesterday that supposed to make them feel like they live in a field rather than my dining room!! They seem to prefer carrots however.

I put in about half a cup of vinegar to just descale. My clothes do not smell of vinegar at all but I find they are not as soft as using conditioner so I now just buy the really cheap stuff and use vinegar instead at least once a week to keep machine in good conditioner. I put it on 50 wash and will do that once a month. I used to do this with tablets but trying to save money

Welcome Emmylou, have you tried argos? They do a stick blender for under £10. Depending how old the little one is you might be able to get away with a masher or my new fave when doing purees which is a potato ricer.
One day I might be more organised...........

you can get a hand one in tesco for £4.97 i think it is and i loved mine (until it got broken) but i now just use my normal blender for what i need, however my blender is rubbish when it comes to small amounts of fruit or veg gahhh but i dont want to make large amounts for her as id rather she have variety at the moment and we only have a small freezer. I think part of me just wants this little one because its very cute and will only take up a little space in the kitchen *place red faced smiley here lol*

Did the shopping yesterday and it came to £34.96, put £5.04 on the christmas savings scheme so total was £40, which is £10 under my target of £50 a week for June. But part of that includes building up my store-cupboard. Still need various herbs & spices, but I'll pick some up next week! HM pizza was delicious. Felt really lazy cos I used the food processor to mix it. Also I'd bought a jar of passata, but it got mouldy so this week, I've decanted what I didn't use into (clean) mini jars and frozen it. Each jar holds enough to do 2 pizzas! Really loved my version of tuna & sweetcorn with a little bit of cheese!!!

I need to get a new bero cookbook - my one is held together by a wish and a prayer, so I've put it on my birthday wish list (lol)!!! I think for July I'll cut the budget to £45. One thing I did was buy cheaper meat for Hubby's packup, but also meat spread as well, (still saving £2 compared to the fresh sliced meat).

  • Hi everyone

I have finished my grocery challenge for June and have gone £10.07 over my budget of £40.00 for the month. I'm not to unhappy about it because I didn't buy anything uneccesary this month, so it's ok.

Next month I am going to try to survive on £40.00 again even though it's a 5 week month. Will try my best anyway, am happy that I cut down so much and I'm very careful about buying reduced and cheaper items, I don't mind because I want to get on top of this debt and reduce my DF date.

Congratulations to everyone who has managed to keep within their targets, and well done to everyone for trying.

    Cheers
