Anybody know how long Institutions can keep personal details of previous customers??

The answer to that is that they shouldn't keep details longer than necessary.

Of course, that doesn't help you.
You would have to ask Santander why they consider it necessary to keep your personal data for over seven years after you ceased to be a customer of theirs.

Not sure what you would do if they say they don't keep data that long though. :D

Santander bless their lying cotton socks claim my neighbour (the person with the financial issues) gave them my number!!!!

It is absolutely clear that I can go no further with this complaint but it could happen to someone else very easily and it is stressful when it is happening!!
