That is really shocking Flower. :( I would never dream of staying in a place that wouldn't want me either, can't believe that by abiding by the rules and being a decent human being you weren't made a priority to be housed, even with 2 small children! It's just such a sad sign of the times that you have to do things that are ethically questionable to actually get anywhere! Take it to the papers!!!!

Bloody Nora Dinah at the cost for 1 meal! We'd spend that on a whole weekend away, and still question whether or not it's worth it! :p If your Aunt and Uncle are that loaded, they should be offering to pay for everyone to join them! Hope it's a fabulous meal. :)

Nice to see that you're still alive Tete! I do worry about you! :o Glad to hear that you've got a plan to stick it out, it's only until the summer so I'm sure you can see it out. You'll just have to spend all those quiet lessons over exam period thinking about what you're going to do with all your free time in August! :)

Does anyone fancy a sneaky meet up before/after Christmas? :)

Sounds great Birdie. Where do we fancy? I always love York at Christmas time, does get a bit busy though.

Aunt and Uncle are putting on the champagne reception first, I don't think they genuinely consider that £160 a head might be a lot to some people.

Took Grace to her first messy play session yesterday, massive success! Without a doubt the messiest child there.

I realised something, something fairly basic. I'm really wanting to do this beginners running course, but NIM works when it's on. It's Mondays, same as Grace's mess around sessions which we'll have to stop after Christmas when we're in the limbo between Ben being a newborn who just sleeps in his car seat, and a toddler who wants to get involved in the messy play. So I'm going to ask NIM if he can put in a request at work see if there is any chance of him changing from working Friday-Monday to Thursday-Sunday in the new year, might be a no but we can ask.

Gradual sales peatering (how the heck do I spell that word?!) through on Ebay, Amazon and a few Etsy mugs a week (although when dad broke it down to me I was quite horrified to discover we only make about £1.90 on each one, I have to question the viability of his business).

We were very lucky that we have good family and friends that have helped us out, but was far from ideal all being squashed into one tiny bedroom to live for 3 months!
When we finally moved into the new place, the first thing addressed to us to come through the door was the council tax bill! :rotfl:

That is horrible, Flower :( With everyone else when they say how terrible it is you'd have to break the law to get treat properly. Glad you've found yourself a place now, I guess that's the part that matters :)

I can always get a day off work for York :) Imagine mid-week would be the quietest time to go? If we work it right we could get the Christmas Market but miss all the (ugh) youths ;) Although I'd be happy with anywhere as long as there's food.

Can't believe the cost of that meal! Hoping at that price it'll be beautiful and magical, and there'll be a "be our guest" style start with actual dancing plates and grey stuff.

Been a bit cheeky and started my NYR early, had a stressful few weeks and found myself in Waterstones on Friday holding Stephen King's new book thinking "Treat yo'self". Demolished it over the weekend and now I really want to get back to reading for fun. Anyone have any recommendations?! :)

It's always good to treat yourself (withing reason and especially when it's a book!) I will always recommend anything by Jo Nesbo (good solid scandi crime fiction), the Millenium Trilogy by Steig Larssen or anything by Haruki Murakami or John Green. But I know they aren't to everyone's taste!

Shame I live daaarrnn south as I'd love a trip to York for the day to meet you all :(

    Morning all,

What a nightmare Flower about the housing.Glad all is ok now.

Dinah - glad the kids are recovering. How much for that meal! That is really kind of your mum to pay for the meal. I love the pics of Grace getting messy.

I would of said somewhere more Southern but there's no way I could afford the train tickets this time of year! :( Might be nice to plan something though, maybe early next year when EC do their £10 London Return deal??

Will add them to my list, Ruby! I normally get stuck in the fantasy/sci-fi section of books, I want to spread my wiiiings. Although after being lost in Waterstones last week I did end up breathing a sigh of relief followed by muttering "my people!" under my breath when I finally found the Sci-Fi corner :D

I'm aiming for 3 a month so any suggestions would be welcome! If everyone else is getting working out, I'll exercise my imagination instead :o I jumped straight from Stephen King to The Hobbit and started imagining poor Bilbo driving down a dusty Maine road :o:o:o

York would be good for me :) I don't work on Fridays (at least until the NY then I'm full time! :()

Cinny, have you read The Martian? I thought it was great and they're making a movie of it now. :) I can't really help with sensible suggestions, been reading the Percy Jackson books recently! :o

Fridays would be good for me too as grace is in nursery and then mum can pick her up so long as it's not the last one of term.

I haven't but it's on the list now!! Fully intending on spending my Christmas money in Waterstones this year :) (and.. you know.. just a little bit in Lush)

When's the last Friday of term? OH and I are meant to be going to the Christmas market together on the 14th, so I was going to suggest the following Friday but that's the ruddy 19th
