Multi packs will have advantages over single packs such as

    1) easier to stock control when on shelves especially for short shelf life items.
    2) easier to load fridges up
    3) fridges eaiser to load.
    4) some items like children fromage frias pots are just to small to sell as stand alone items and would keep falling off the shelf.

The OP isn't talking about multi-packs. They are talking about pricing offers.

Then they had a pack of 4 tubes of smarties in Tesco the other week for one pound twenty, and then the following week it was one pound EIGHTY, and then the FOLLOWING week, it was two packs for two pounds! AGAIN, making you buy stuff you don't want or need.

No, nobody is making you buy anything you don't want or need, it's your choice.

You are just being pointlessly pedantic. rolleyes.gif

But 'making you buy', it's obvious to anyone of even basic intelligence the intended meaning is 'making you buy <x> if you want a decent price'.

For me it depends on what a decent price is. I find many things in Asda a decent price purchased individually, however they are often an even better price when sold as a multipack and I'm not being pedantic

"HOWEVER, they were five pounds for two six packs"

The op is talking about mutli packs as well.

I buy small bags of carrot sticks to have with a dip for a healthy lunch . Near work there are two small Tesco stores . Now they will only sell these bags in pairs instead of singles . I refuse to buy them as most will get wasted as they have a short life.

Why cannot people understand that one of the purposes of this forum is to vent?

Well then what's wrong with venting back about people who don't understand how large retail businesses have worked for donkeys years, and will work for donkeys years!
  • Big supermarkets drive small shops out of business and then force people.

No people drove small shops out of business because Supermarkets are cheaper & carry a far wider range and they can get they whole shop done at once.

It is consumer habits that have always caused other businesses to close, not other businesses themselves!!!

Or indeed, venting about those who assume that because they (think they) know how things work that entitles them to ridicule and belittle those who (they think) don't.

    No shit, Sherlock!

That is exactly what people mean by 'drove them out of business'.

Did you think they through that Tesco came along with sticks and bludgeoned them away? :rotfl:
