Hi, I am tempted to take up the offer on 3's site for 600 texts and 75 xnet minutes per mth for £15.00 with a new handset for 18mths. Is this good? Is 3 good? Or am I taking a leap to hell changing from vodafone where i pay £15 a mth for a £15 text pack that gives me 500 texts and no credit?

I'm with 3 and personally I cannot wait to end my contract. For one if you have to ring their call centre which is in India dont expect to understand a word or vice versa and also signal is hit and miss in my experience.

the guys in phones4u told me what '3' are now owned by the people who used to own orange, so wherever u get orange coverage, u get '3' coverage. I'm assuming he was bullsh*tting me.

3's 3g coverage is only 90% so when that doesnt work it falls back to the orange network

I think uve lost the plot. That's what i said in post (2) when you started arguing!

Quote from post (2) "3 Coverage itself is poor but there customer service explained that it will roam to orange or O2 for free to create a good coverage for basic functions. However under poor signal and roaming conditions the special 3 features will not work. As i only want to use it as a phone this is OK for many oldies like me!"

I guess that uve realised this now and and you or a moderator has deleted your original post that is saved within the quote of my post (3).

Even your quote above is wrong. The dog is after the 675 tariff NOT the 500 text. I think you should read posts properly before reply.

    Keep up the good work!

    Who's arguing?

Firstly he only wants it for texting and ringing so he can simply put the phone in GSM mode and not worry about network because it'll be using Orange network. So signal is not an issue.

And if you read correctly he actually does want the 500 TXT package - the extra mins are a bonus (he gets 500 TXT from VODA). SO it's actually the correct tarriff - I don't spell things out for people - most people can figure it out. It's obvious that he will choose the 500 TXT package and thats what I said.

The 500 TXT package and 675 are the same. I just didn't spell it out - you get 600 txts and 75 mins!
  • I'm been with 3 for 9 months and work in a major (multi network) mobile phone shop and TBH I've never had any problems with them. Their call centres in india actually are very very good and put a lot of the english ones to shame!
Apart from the great prices and best value internet bundle on the market the 2 times I have had to speak to customer service I've got through within 15 secs and they've been extremly polite and accurate. The first time I walked into Tesco while on the phone to them and lost the call but 2 mins later they actually phoned me back! Which I've never known any network do before. The 2nd time was to add the x-series bundle onto my account and they phoned me back again to double check it was still OK to do because I had a free internet bundle which would have to be taken off to add on the X-series bundle!

These days they don't deserve the bad reputation that they have! (I was also with them 4 years ago when they first started and they we're f***ing awful then!)

Been with 3 for over 2 months now and no complaints, I live in Bristol/Leicester and have full 3G coverage regardless of where I am, also used in various areas in Birmingham and not had problems with the 3G reception atall, even used mobile browsing whilst on a slow train and majority of the journey I was able to browse.

I signed up for the DT 1000 for £17.50 for 18 months direct with 3, got my £30 recommend a friend on my third bill (2nd month) and also a week later I got my £100 cashback through Quidco (will be adding that to my three account soon as its in my bank account). For the deal I got I am extremly happy since it will effectively cost me around £10 a month (not counting my £5 p/m add-on of xseries-silver).

3's main customer service centre are based in India, I'm British-Indian myself and sometimes do find them difficult to understand, but I must stress they are a great help and extremely professional. I find UK call centres tend to employ young staff, most still in their teens who really don't enjoy their jobs (I've worked in call centres myself and its not always fun!) and many don't really care about the end-consumer. The majority of Indian call centre workers as many know are University Graduates, which explains why they are very professional in my view, and the Indian culture does make them quite strict and rule abiding (which companies love.. not the best for the end-consumer). On one of the few occasions I have called up, mid conversation I had to hang up... I got an immediate call back! Like Merlin said above.. I really don't know another network that would do that..

To clarify 3's backup 2G carrier is no longer O2, they are with Orange! 3 are not owned by Orange or any other network, they are part of the Hutchison Whampoa Group... 3's own network is very new and in the past few yrs had problems, as far as I can see they have ironed most of them out and now pushing out new technology ie the x-series! things such as checking your usage in real time is just brilliant, unlike providers such as O2 where it can take upto 2 days to show online... which by then you could have racked up those call costs! Other services of 3 such as '3 like home' which lets you use your inclusive usage when roaming in Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Hong Kong, Australia and Ireland are brilliant and dare say pioneering! (even though its with their own networks only, its a shame other UK providers don't follow)

All in all extremely happy with 3, especially compared to my previous provider O2. People on MSE have been offered ridiculously good retention offers after giving their 30 day notice period and it's one of the reasons I cant wait for my 18 months to end! £180 for 18months use with 750 mins/150 texts plus all the extra's... try and beat that! (cashback cheque offers excluded of course!)

Is it possible to enter the free headset code as well as RAF? I only see one "promotional code" box to enter them in to.

You can definitely enter both, should be right next to the promotion codes field in the checkout phase
if its not showing then close all the windows and clear your cookies...
Do it all again and make sure you don't close any windows while your doing the process. For the recommend a friend you need to click the RAF link in the middle bar n click the link at the bottom of that page (this will set the cookies that should show the RAF box)
