Hi, I am tempted to take up the offer on 3's site for 600 texts and 75 xnet minutes per mth for £15.00 with a new handset for 18mths. Is this good? Is 3 good? Or am I taking a leap to hell changing from vodafone where i pay £15 a mth for a £15 text pack that gives me 500 texts and no credit?

  • I am thinking of doing the same. The deal is £270 for 18 months without the bill/cashback hassle. If you sign up to quidco (which ive just done) you can get £55 cashback. Also if you do the recommend a friend thing you will get £60 credit to share. Also if you go on 3 live chat they will give you a code to get a free blue tooth headset. Do you know any more tricks?

3 Coverage itself is poor but there customer service explained that it will roam to orange or O2 for free to create a good coverage for basic functions. However under poor signal and roaming conditions the special 3 features will not work. As i only want to use it as a phone this is OK for many oldies like me!
    Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j

3 coverage is not poor. It used to be but not any more.

Sorry but your wrong. 3 coverage is relatively poor covering only 90% of the population compared with 98-99% on O2, orange, and vodafone. It says so on 3's website. They get good coverage by roaming to other networks which enable them to cover 99% but you lose the 3G features when it roams.

Quote from 3's website "3's coverage is made up of two kinds of service area: a rapidly expanding video service area covering 90% of the UK population and a nation wide voice and picture service area".

He doesn't need all the 3G features (500 txt). So technically for phone and texting. 3 is as good as any other network.

And if he gets a Nokia phones it's quite easy to change it to generic to enable switching to GSM mode only.

the quidco offer is only on selected mobiles, not the nokia 6288 im looking at.

I get poor signal where i live in vodafone so im guessing im going to suffer with 3. I intend to use the 3 services for msn but now you lot said u cant access services with low signal. So if i roam to orange or o2, i cant use the msn service?

so what do i do with the cashback?? does it arrive to me in a cheque?

im looking at quidco now and i signed up...when i go to 3 it says click here to visit merchant and earn cashback..the 3 site appears but is in no way linked to quidco, so how does quidco know to give me the cashback? and how can they afford to give me cashback!?

Before joining 3, I heard and read lots about their poor service. But their gold x-series is very good. I can watch TV remotely using sling box, using MSN and a lot more other stuffs.

The 3G servie is very good in my area, now I download loads of wiget from all other site, youtube, flickr, gmail etc, all in my mobile. I love it now.....

    3 mobile are rubbish.........

i got a 6280 with half price phone rental for 6 months, after the 6 months i would be paying £45 , i was told by the phone shop i could reduce this amount if i phoned up after the 6 months.... so i did.... it would cost me £25 to go down to the £35p month, then every drop after that would be £25, great!!!! then at the end of my contract i wanted to get my phone unlocked to use a different sim..... £50 they wanted me to pay to do that, i said can i cancel this contract..... they said yes.... they carried on charging me for 3 months.... refusing to give money back....also everytime u ring customer services u cannot understand a blinking word they say, nor can they understand you...

I think 3 are much much better now than they were even 1 year ago - the coverage now is 10 X better - and some of the deal are excellent - havent had a problem so far.
