Mum has given me her copy of my wedding DVD, so I've just backed it up to the external hard drive, and will burn it to another disc too. Am watching it and haven't cried, was so nice to hear his voice... While the inlaws are on holiday later this month, I'm going to try do a mini-compilation of the video I have of him. I think they'd love that, even it was upsetting, IYSWIM.
.
Thing is, with 'modern' technology, you have the opportunity to keep memories of special people 'fresh' and accurate IYSWIM. So yes they are upsetting but so very very precious. And the Bossybabes will have a picture of how their daddy was, how he spoke...so he will be even more 'real' to them IYSWIM. Not as good as the real thing but so very close.
One of my special memories is of my Grandma, and her two sisters-in-law (Grandad's sisters) neither of whom had had families of their own:( at my mum's one Christmas. She had borrowed a video camera from work (it was that long ago) and they were all sitting inline on a 3 seater sofa trying to stay stock still. And smiling. What I asked what was happening I was told, by them, that they had to sit stil and smile 'for the camera'! Bless them - they thought it was for a still picture :rotfl: They didn't realise they could move.
We always had extended family over at Christmas and that was the time we had 4 generations together.
We're back to 3 now:( but at least the Vallikids knew the youngest great aunt (and her husband):)Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Well done, CY!
I'm afraid I was well away in the Land of Nod last night long before you'd even started your walk - a combination of a day of packing, a glass of wine and a sublime concert - but I *had* raised my mug of hot chocolate to you before I crashed out
As usual, I have woken up bright (?) and early this morning, even without sunshine. I shan't have an oven for a few weeks. so maybe I'll go and bake a couple more cakes now, to take with us. Moving day is Wednesday - mind you, they might not last till then :rotfl:
Sadly, we haven't got any bacon left in the housenor much of anything else in the way of food - I have almost emptied the freezer and my larder is mostly bare

Morning all
Well done CY, great achievement.
Went to a party next door last night, was quite good with the fizz so only a touch heady. They have done loads in their house, with 3 young kids and it has made me think that I need to stop wasting time and just get on with things.
So after my cuppa I will
Put WM1 on
have a shower
cut the grass
plant out everything I can from pots/seeds etc
write a list of anything left to do in the garden, sweep up.
Also
clear the table and get the paperwork done
DS3 to finish helping put toys away
Hopefully get furniture we don't want listed on ebay
This week
Finish all Governor paperwork
Finish all Financial paperwork
Do my paid gardening job next door
Do a proper meal plan and food shop
That should make me feel much better by next weekendThe birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Morning all. I've only read this page so well done CY, good luck with the move Ionafan, and lovely idea with the video Bossy. Hugs and spoons to anyone else as required.
I spend all day yesterday volunteering in the sunshine and it was great fun, but today is my own. So following a very busy paid stuff and social stuff week, this is my list:
Gym
Walk dogs and catch up on phone call while doing this (free minutes)
Hoover/sweep mop through house
Cut grass
Weed drive/patio
Neaten edges
Other things if I get time:
Sew curtains (still on list from last week)
Make dog bed (same)
Catch up on reading local rag and other mags
Have a great day everyone, catch you later.Spend less now, work less later.0
